We weighed Jackson for the first time since we were discharged from hospital tonight.

In one month, he has put on 1100g!!! He's now just on 9kg, which puts him on the 15th centile. That's impressive catch up weight, given babies at this age only put on an average of 50g per week.

What makes me happiest, is that he's done this with real food. No sneaky additives and calorie boosters. Sure, we're giving him the highest calorie choices possible, but it's all been real-life food.

Wow. I am so happy right now! It means we can soon start easing back the bottle and yoghurt with some confidence that he has buffer weight and he should be able to eat enough calories himself.

This is huge!

Thanks heaps guys! I am still pretty stoked.

I am wondering if I will ever get over my absurd fear of feeding Jackson. I still feel all knotted up whenever I have to feed him, particularly bottles. This morning's been a bad one, and I feel sick in my tummy about it. You'd think after a month of good eating and such good gain, I'd be able to shake it off eh?

Yay Jackson.

I'm sure you'll be feeling like that for awhile yet, a month is a long time, but its also a short time in the grand scheme of things when you've been battling this for as long as you have

Great news Laurie... what a super weight gain!!!!!

I am not surprised you are still anxious, I expect you will feel that way for some time yet. You cant just block out everything that has happened, but you will teach yourself to relax as he continues to be improve.

i think you are inspirational!

Heh heh, I am guessing that Jackson's gain is not going to be quite so impressive after all. The morning after I weighed him he did FOUR massive poos! So, he was probably only 90% baby and 10% poop after all.

Even if the total is not so grand, I feel like we are doing ok.

Thats fantastic Laurie, esp seeing he is eating real food as well. You have done an amazing job staying strong for your wee man.
