sarah i started temping this month too - my temps are taken each morning at 6am when alarm goes off and i leave thermo by the bed ready. Its a bit hard when its so cold and all i want to do is get up and pee but i force myself to take temp first (orally!). Not sure what to make of my temps so far and so far FF says I havent Oed yet I am on day 17!!! of an average (over past 7 months) 28 day cycle. I am just hoping I oed and we hit it before DH went overseas!
Best of luck temping let me know how you go. I cant even bare to try and do the how high is my cervix today test they recommend! Temping is plenty!

Hey Sarah - yep you should take it while you are still in bed - before you do anything else. I would wake up and groggily put it in my mouth and sometime dose off and the beeping would wake me up!!

Bombshell - I never tried the 'how high is your cervix' either. It just seemed a bit confusing and I agree - temping was plenty enough for me!!

well I really don't think the in bed thing will work with this thermoeter then, the beeping of it would get me killed, it beeps while taking the temp sporadically and then beeps continually when it has decided on what my temp is.

mine beeps when temp is done...im usually about to dose back off about then...LOL

Sarah - some hope for you...my chart today shows I Oed on day 14!!!! yipppppeeeee I cant tell you how pleased i was to see it bring up red lines and an "ovulation detected" message!!! I was wondering if I was really Oing and now FF has convinced me I am...and DH and I managed to BD big time right before he went away on morning of day 15.....Ive been on a high all day - silly I know but I am just soooooooo happy it did this.

The husband will get used to it! All BBT thermometers do that so that you know when the temperature is ready to read.

Apart from the first morning temping when the husband rolled over and said "what the hell are you doing?" He just slept through it!

Your temp starts to go up as soon as you get out of bed - so unless you're temping as soon as you wake up, it won't be accurate and won't be worth doing.

Hmm.. This will probably sound silly but I'm really curious - what is takig your temp useful for? I have never done that (other than when I have a cold/flu)

if you use fertility friend you can keep track of your temps and they will show you when or if you ovulate, length of your cycle and then if like Sarah beth and I also when you are pregnant....
It was helpful to know i was truly ovulating....and often isnt when you think you are....
if you go the the website - its a dot com....have a read up there....Sarah beth and I both started charting this past month....

Sounds like you're very excited - good on you. How long did you TTC for (if you don't mind me asking) - just seems like you really really wanted this to happen.

we started ttc in Jan this year, but I had gotten used to getting negatives every month. I guess once the positive finally showed up it was more than a little surprising.

< language=> and then there is me at the other end of the scale weve been TTC for 2 years & Ive been on FF for one but then I dont have a "nornal" cycle & have PCOS so that does add a bit of a challenge to the mix LOL.

I highly reccommend temping thats the only thing thats been keeping me sane!!! i would be POAS more than I do now LOL. and i could prove to my fertility specialist that i was infact ovulating just late.... which has been great in helping the dx meds along...

I too have been TTc for nearly 2 years (August). we have had one m/c which was in June and are now back into BDing. Not long now till start testing this month - had a queasy tummy this morning & been peeing a lot, but is probably more in my head than anything else.

In the past i have taken temps and also used a microscope to check saliva for fertility but have become lazy from getting so many negatives. if it doesn't happen this month i'll be making a more concerted effort to keep taking temp - plus we'll be back at specialist in September on our return to NZ

when we contacted the doctor they actually suggested that we chart for two months so we could show them what was going on etc. Turned out to be great idea for us...but can also see benefits for it from their point of view too especially if you put a lot of information on the chart

I have charted for 2 and 1/2 months and it shows a 'normal' cycle, so the specialist told me yesterday that there was no need to continue. I'm kinda glad as I was a bit over it really as for me it made me start everyday thinking about TTC and it gets a bit overwhelming - it's nice to think about other things from time to time...

I've made the decision to try this temping stuff this cycle. I tried to avoid it for the past 19 cycles, thinking that it would make me obsess more.

Then I thought - who am I kidding!!  I obsess too much anyway!  At least if I add this to the mix I can feel like I am being a bit proactive! lol.  So this is my first month temping, and I'm back on clomiphene.  Wish me luck everyone!
