Up until 8 weeks Ashley was a dream (other than her 2 hourly night wakings LOL). So placid, relaxed and happy. Since 8 weeks it's been up and down but she started STTN, 10.30 to 5 or 6 which was great & she was doing 4 solid naps a day too.
In the last 10 days or so she's become increasingly unsettled. Crying waaaay more than in the first 8 weeks.
She used to be up for an hour but now barely makes it to 30mins up before she is upset and needing to go back to bed.
She used to take amazing 2 hour naps but now wakes SCREAMING at the 40min mark every nap. I mean screaming - the sort of cry we never heard once during her first 8 weeks. And if I manage to resettle her cries every 10mins for the rest of the nap. If I stand close by and watch she frowns and grimaces through the nap from 40mins on.
Last night she was crying every 20 to 60mins in the night.
This is all such a turnaround from the placid baby we had for 8 weeks. What do you think is going on? Just a baby phase??

It is common for babies to cry alot more at around 8-12 weeks. Could be a growth spurt that is taking ages, or she has discovered her lungs!

Have you had her ears checked? or maybe wind? I'd be inclined to have her checked by GP just to be safe even though it very likely could be a phase...

Will zip to GP this arvo...best since this is such a change for her. I'm sure it isn't wind...she winds well and doesn't seem to have excess wind as she used to.

Almost sounds a bit refluxy doesn't it? The screaming and the grimacing - especially if she's sleeping on her back. You were wondering about silent reflux awhile ago - maybe she was getting a bit of stuff coming up then but is just now starting to get some pain if she has more stomach acid (??)

Well at least my instincts were right...she is in pain. Her throat is a bit ulcerated. We dunno yet if it is a virus or reflux. I have to go back in a week and if it is still the same we will be starting losec. Doc is hopeful that it is just a virus so here is hoping she is right. She also has thrush on her tongue and the doc thinks that is hurting her too.
:( At least we are onto it and either way she should be feeling better soon.
