Normally my hubby baths Ashley with my assistance - Ashley is 4.5 months old.

She has started to want to go to bed earlier and my hubby gets home pretty late so i now have to bath her all by myself but i am REALLY bad at it - i am just so uncordinated and she screams at me!
She loves the bath when Daddy holds her and i do the cleaning!

i have a bath seat but i just dont seem to be able to get myself coordinated!

Any tips?

my partner wants to shower with our little bubby when she is born, i'm a little hesitant cos i tried showering with my friends baby a few years ago and babies are so slippery, so i almost dropped him :( and after than i havent been confident enought to try again, has anyone else had this problem? i saw a midwife at out antinatal classes have like on of those bellybands or slings around her chest and had a toy baby in it and i was like: hmmm, i wonder if the partner can shower with the baby in that thing??"

yeah i find her slippery enough in the bath let alone the shower!

and i cant figure out how getting her out as well as me and dry etc would work - do i just have to stand around wet and cold ??

I bath/shower my little girl. She used to hate baths too and so we got a seat while she was little to make it a bit more secure. With showering I don't use soap or anything and just hold her across my body. If my partner isn't home to help, I lay her towel out and dry her first then myself.

I Have to admit I loved showering with the girls. It is a little slippery but you could always sit down in the shower if you don't feel confident. However we only did it for the first couple of months. Once they start getting older they tend to wriggle too much. It's a great way to have skin to skin and they just fall asleep when they're brand new. It's bliss!

Have you tried having a bath with her KazS? It's a frustrating age because they can't sit up by themselves yet but they're wanting more independence and it breaks your back trying to hold them lol. Maybe it's just a case of her getting used to something new. Shes probably quite used to the both of you bathing her and is maybe just a little confused. Give the bath seat a go maybe she just wants a little more freedom.

Good luck chic. I know what it's like my partner works late and I have to bath the both of mine by myself which always ends in tears lol. They love the bath and as soon as you take one out she starts screaming then her sister starts... It's chaos!

If I have a bath with one of mine I just keep a robe handy for me and concentrate on getting bubs dry first then once she's dry and dressed I finish with me. Definitely have a heater in the room

Thanks guys

Think have the problem was today that she may still be a little small for the bath seat (its quite big) so i might put a hand towel in the bottom of it next bath to make it a bit more secure

Cheers

KazS, I just lay a hand towel in the bath and lie her on top of it - she loves it as she has much more freedom to move about (we do have a seat as well). And bathtime here is literally just putting her in, I don't use product on her (shes only 6mth) so its just about having fun and relaxation.

And I have finally ventured in with her too. I thought logistically it would be a nightmare, but like Lisa said, just have your towel/robe handy and deal with baby first before yourself.
Only problem I have encountered is having her climb up to the goods! Not much room in there when she wants a wee feed!

i use a cloth nappy wrapped around Cory when i bath him...so it means that he doesnt slip away from me and i have a secure hold on him....

When it is just me bathing him...i lay the towel on the floor beside me and just transfer and wrap (dont get very wet at all).

When he has a shower with daddy, we use a cloth nappy as well, also give a bit of protection from the water.

When i use to bath with Rhiannon, i use to make sure the bathroom was really warm and then get us both out of the bath...wrap her securely in her towel (which had a hood), and put her on a dry bathmat...then quickly got myself dried and just kept the towel wrapped around myself as i got her dressed etc, then went back and got dressed myself

The first time I showered with Blair thanks to a mega poo-splosion, I lined the capsule with a couple of towels, so when he got out (he just lay in my arms in the shower) I just put him into the capsule and wraped the sides in and over him.

I shower everynow and again with DD as I have an ensuite I lay her towel out on the bed and wrap her up in that while I quickly dry myself. If your really worried then you can lay the towel onto a blanket and wrap up in the blanket and towel just make sure theres some pillows there to surround her.

There are the bath supports that the bubs lay back in that I have heard that its good to pop them on underneath you if you plan on shaving etc not that you probably will, you just need to make sure you have the water on them. DD always looks a little scared when I do this don't think she's warm enough.

Also quite a good idea to get her used to the shower you don't want a kid that is scared of the shower

Hey you!!! Ailie loves her baths and I pretty much do it by myself... do you have one of the bathing things that you lie them on they are mesh - that saves my back and keeps your hands freer. Also lately I have been putting on a good CD and singing along to her. I bath her on the dining room table with her towel laid out on a thick blanket beside it so she is easily transferred over.
