I had some homemade hummus yesterday, the lady said she just blends up chickpeas, sundried tomatoes and something else which I've forgotten..
So 2 questions - what could that other ingredient have been, and how do I cook chickpeas? She said she doesn't soak them but I thought chickpeas did need soaking?
eta - I won't see the lady again until after the holidays but I really want to make some.

If you are using canned chickpeas you won't need to soak them.
The other main ingredient in hummus is tanini (sesame seed paste). I think that is about it?

She may not have used raw chickpeas - ones from a can don't need soaking
Olive oil is a possible third ingredient maybe?
I haven't made any in years, so I can't remember what goes in it sorry!

Garlic would be yum! Pretty sure you just whizzy blend with whatever you want for flavouring :) Olive oil sounds about right! I have a recipe at home that has lemon juice I am sure of it...

Traditionally hummus has tahini (sesame paste) in it. That might have been the other thing. Also garlic and lemon juice.
