Ava is 7 months today and shows zero interest in rolling. She has rolled tummy to back a couple of times when she was 4 months and did it once about 3 weeks ago when someone showed her how. I am doing all the things Plunket suggest (moving toys out of the way, showing her how etc) but if there are no toys to play with she plays with her feet. She likes tummy time too.
Who else had late rollers? As a first time mum of course I'm a little anxious so just want reassurance that it's normal

All babies do things in there own time. Id try not to worry.
Is she sitting yet?? Perhaps try get her sitting more & then that might help her too. My dd didnt roll till about 6 months. I found she learnt alot better rolling from back to front. She would try grabbing her toes or try eat them then just roll lol. |

My daughter rolled once and then didn't do it again until after she walked at 12 months. She sat early, then walked at 12 months, then rolled & crawled at 13 months after walking LOL. Some kids just do things differently. As long as she masters the art at some stage I believe it is ok. Same with crawling, as long as they learn the cross patterning skill at some stage, it is ok if it is not right at the "usual" time. ------------- Mummy to Gabrielle and Ashley |

My daughter is 9.5 months and rolled a couple of times at about 6 months and then never did it again till yesterday. I thought she'd forgotten how coz I always put the toys out of her reach and she just yells at them instead of trying to roll towards them  Yesterday however she rolled as soon as I put her down and then looked at me when I clapped like 'what's all the fuss about mum'!
I wouldn't worry too much about it (although since I have been there done that I can tell you that lots of people told me the same thing and I did anyway). My daughter isn't crawling yet either but can sit really well unaided instead. I guess all kids do stuff at their own pace. ------------- http://lilypie.com">

Some kids even skip stages. My sisters daughter didn't crawl at all just went straight from sitting to standing to walking. I wouldn't worry. Like others have said they all do things different and in their own time. But I know how hard it is not to compare. My two have always been a little behind most others their age but I guess thats part of being twins. -------------

Rowan hit every physical development stage late. I wouldn't worry - they catch up and then you can't even tell. -------------

Campbell is exactly the same - he rolled twice from tummy to back at about 5 months, I think, then not again til recently, when I was trying to encourage him to get his legs underneath him. Now everytime I put him on his tummy, he promptly rolls over!
Generally though, he'll roll from side to side but otherwise not bother. He has yet to roll from back to front. But he sits really well, and I figure he'll do things in his own time. I learned today at an active movement class that its more important for the baby to go through the stages, than worry about at what age they do them. |

I agree that some babies miss stages. DP apparently never crawled. He sat, them bum shuffled everywhere until he could run. So he missed crawling and barely walked.
I also think that babies will do things at their own pace and all you can do is encourage her to keep making progress in one way or another but don't worry too much (or let anyone make you worry) that she is at a different stage than other kids her age. ------------- http://lilypie.com">

From 4.5 months Mika used to constantly roll from back to tummy, and then get stuck and very frustrated. Then all of the sudden about a month ago (at 6.5mnths) she stopped rolling completely. And since this week she is rolling from tummy to back, but seems to have forgotten how to roll from back to tummy 
I figure she'll get there one day, and will be able to roll both ways without rescue. |

We have only had rolling back to front in the last few weeks, like you had rolling a long time ago & then nothing.
