i think sitting was about 4 months
Commando crawling about 7 1/2 months
Proper crawling at 10 months
Hard to remember exactly! I wish i had written all this down . . .
EDIT - i have been thinking about this and Maya's mention of Bumbo has made me remember it was 5 1/2 months she was sitting at unassisted (out of the Bumbo!)

Jake is 5.5 months and not sitting unaided yet, my paed said 6 months was the norm. Not sure on the rest , but I can say my little one can get about now on his back. He pushes himself towards what he wants and then turns around and pushes himself back.
Quite a clever little monkey.

DS sat up unaided at about 6 months & he started crawling around 6 & a half months. I blame my mum-she was here on holiday for 3 weeks & all she did the entire time was try make him crawl...she left & 2 weeks later he started crawling. It sucked that he started so early because then I had to watch him so much more closely. I think the norm is probably closer to 9 months?

My daughter started crawling 2 weeks ago. I wish I had a stationary baby for just a little longer, she is so busy and into everything. Enjoy that wonderful potato stage for as long as possible!

sitting was quite a gradual thing, but I'm guessing 6 months. Natalie didn't crawl until just before 11 months (which is a little on the late side), but she didn't do the commando thing - straight into proper crawling. She only crawled for about 6 weeks before she was walking independently, so has 'caught up' as it were I was very happy to have her relatively immobile for so long! (although she did get rather frustrated at not being able to move!)

Two of my older kids were 5 months and commando crawling but not sitting they did that at 6 and 7 months and my other son sat unaided at 7.5 months and crawled at 10months he didn't commando crawl.

Ryan started sitting a couple of weeks ago when he was just over 5 months.
He's not too far off crawling I think, getting up on his toes/knees and manages to push himself backwards too. But he still doesn't roll from back to front, not sure what thats about!

"Average" is 6 months for sitting and 9 months for crawling. None of mine were "average" tho lol!
Maya sat unaided at 5 mths, crawled at 8, walked at 10.
Sienna sat unaided at 8 mths, bottom shuffled (never crawled) at 10 and walked between 13-14 mths.
Mercedes was the same as Sienna except crawled instead of bottom shuffled.
Lil miss flew into the world a hundred miles an hour and has been on the move ever since - crawled at 6 mths, sat around the same time and walked at just on 10. She's now 14 mths and a running, climbing destructababy.
I did start to worry that the gremlins were a bit slow coz they didn't sit for so long, but all their other milestones have been fine. It was tough tho coz they wanted to be able to sit and got bored with lying on the floor so I used the Bumbo seats a lot.

I don't remember Sam ever sitting up. He would topple over all the time or just tip himself over so that he could move around. He crawled at 7 months, and walked at 11 months. He can sit up now obviously but I don't ever remember him sitting on his bottom. From 4-5 months he was arching his back and moving himself around on the back of his head which looked really strange and gave him carpet burn and a bald spot!

C sat up unaided at around 7 months (5mo adjusted age) and at 9.5 months is yet to crawl but he does bum shuffle when he gets excited about something

Sirius was crawling just before 6months, but didn't start properly sitting (like pulling himself into a sitting position) until about 7months.
I never propped him up though so that probally had something to do with it

Jody's a bit slow lol. She started sitting at about 6 months but still can't get sit up from lying down by herself, she just sits happily if I plonk her on the floor like that.
10.5 months and absolutly no signs of even wanting to crawl. I like my little potato though, it's nice that she stays where I leave her!

Jake sat unaided at 5.5 months, rocked and went backwards the day he turned 6 months then crawled properly at 7 months. He started pulling up and walking around furniture a week or so later at 7.5 months then pushing around toys a few weeks later so we thought he'd walk early, but didn't walk til 2 days after his first b'day.
My neice sat at 6 months, crawled at 10 months and walked at 15 months.

When people say 'sits unaided' do you mean stays sitting when you put the baby into a sitting position, or that the baby can get him/herself into a sitting position anytime they want?
My baby is almost 5.5 months and can sit if I have one hand lightly supporting her, but topples as soon as I take my hand away.
What she does is lie on her back, lifts her hips and thighs and pushes into her ankles, thrusting her backward. Not sure if this is normal? This week she's started doing that in her cot a lot and works her way up the cot until her head is ground into the cot bumper at the top end, then she can't move and get's frustrated. Hope she grows out of doing that soon!

Unaided is sitting without anything proping them up (ie no pillow or hand behind them).
Yep the pushing backwards is normal ... I'm sure Jake did that before rolling to tum. Morgan is already doing it!!
