Hi Everyone 
I have recently caught the flu/cold off someone and now have a blocked nose,sore throat and chesty/dry caugh. I think im being paranoid but i just wana double check, This flu/cold i caught wont harm my baby will it ?? , im 10 weeks today ... ??

You should be fine. I had a cold when I was pregnant and was told that it can actually be a good thing, as you pass the antibodies on to the baby.
A friend had whooping cough when she was pregnant - which meant that her baby was born immune to it. It's just annoying since you can't really take anything for it. Hope you feel better soon! |

I have just gotton over a bout of the flu- the flu & m/s are not a good combination and made for an awful week. The main thing to watch for is a fever......I ended up going to the GP about something else and mentioned to her about how sick I was feeling and she said that I had the flu and took my temperature which was slightly higher than 38c and just double checked that the babies heartbeat was OK (which of course she had difficultly finding and I ended up being sent to my MW to double check it was all OK).
I think you are able to take antibiotices for the cough....I have to go back tomorrow and get some as I have had a bad cough for 2 weeks now and GP said to come back early this week if it was still there and she would give me something for it. Other than that, I did find some manaka honey cough syrup at the pharmacy which they told me was safe for pregnancy and got some manaka honey thoat lozones (which tasted so nice).

Sounds more like a nasty cold than the flu in which case your baby will be fine but you will probably feel like cr*p.
Just keep an eye out for temp rises and make sure that you take panadol to help keep that in check. -------------
