A cafe could be really nice I would think, especially if you were able to book an area for yourselves? Depends how silly you want to get, or if you are expecting other small children perhaps?
Could you hold it at a friends house? Or what about a nice day out on the kapiti coast for everyone? I'd travel an hour to a friends baby shower.
I live 40 mins out of town and my BFF is holding mine at my house (and she's coming from 2.5 hours away to do it, so I don't think she'll take travelling as an excuse from anyone )

I agree with T-Rex, 30mins away is nothing.......most people travel from kapiti to wellington every day, its not like its auckland.........I travel into Wellington al the time, my in laws live in Wainui and i go there for bdays etc and just to go over and visit. Altho i think one of your wellington friends should hold the baby shower for you at their place, cos i would travel an hour to not have to deal with the bother of doing it myself!! heck i will travel 2hours if it meant i didnt have to do anything.........lol....

Your very lucky t-rex! none of my friends have offered to do that for me so i thought i'll go ahead and try and organise one myself! Its just that most my friends don't drive so it will be quite hard getting up to the coast. Im thinking a cafe or restaurant aswell, just wondering what sort of place would want to put up with a baby shower!!

If you are looking for a good Cafe Bar restaurant The Southern Cross in Abel Smith st is brilliant, They do great daytime food and have little areas you can corddain off for privacy, They are also very baby and toddler friendly if anyone has to bring small kids along, It also has the best garden if you get a nice day
