Hi, just wondering when some of you started doing your baby bag and getting organised?

Also when did you have everything ready i.e. clothes washed, baby bag, making sure capsual fits and how do you know its right and safe?

Thanks

First time around we were ready about 3 months in advance and I think we had the car seat installed from about 36/37 weeks.

This time around...well I'm due end of April so I'll get around to it around....ummmm.....April. Realistically I'll proabably find myself doing some shopping etc once we know the gender and i am going to be knitting a fair bit of stuff as well...but baby bag and all that to be honest will be done in the last few weeks.

I'm due same time as T-rex and I already have a bassinette made up. Capsule is pretty much ready and has been tested in both vehicles.

I have washed and folded most of the clothes.

I have pretty much everything I need for baby now  I'm obsessed.

I've started my baby bag, for the hospital stay only. I'm being prepared for early monitoring and emergencies though. I'm not going to worry about the labour bag and stuff for baby until 35 weeks because there's no point til then. I have noticed that there's heaps of stuff I need for my hospital bag so have started adding some to the shopping list every week.

Our capsule fits in both cars and we know how to install it. I did find an instruction manual that will be going to hospital as well so we can adjust it to fit baby.

Once we've got our babys room painted then I might make up the cot and bassinet and wash all the clothes. If I washed all the clothes now I'd want to wash them again before then and that just seems pointless.

Oh shadowfeet, thats a good idea too.

Think thats something I can do tomorrow. Start looking at my hospital bag. I have the list for it in my pregnancy book.

I've done nothing.

First time around I remember throwing a bunch of things into a bag at about 37 weeks when I thought I might be in labour.    After that I packed my bag the night before my c-section.

I'm a last minute kinda girl.

Yeah I did most of it at 35 weeks. I had a few things sorted at around 32 weeks.

This time I'll probably not get around to it until 37 weeks or so.

Ok we do have the nursery almost sorted but that's more because when we put Miss M into her new room and big girls bed and we figured we'd put the cot etc back into her old room, easier for storage. decorating we'll do once we now the gender.

I've been planning my list for my hospital bag, but don't think I'll pack it till I'm pretty much due - like maybe the week or 2 before. I'm going to wash clothes and blankets etc after my baby shower so at about 32 weeks and the nursery is all ready to go. I'm not sure about the car seat yet, I was think DH could sort that closer to the time.

I'll be doing it once we know what it is (5 weeks and couting down yay!!!) coz I like being organised and once its done I don't have to think about it. I was completely ready by 22 weeks with Jake but I washed all his clothes again at 37/38 weeks to make sure it was fresh.

With Leah I decided that I would have everything ready by the end of antenatal classes, everyone laughed at me  but was glad I was ready as she was born 5 days after the last class!

So with that in mind I tried to have my bags for Joel done by 36/37 weeks, and then had a scare and had to be admitted for 24 hrs the day after I had done them so was glad again that I was ready, although I managed to not have him then everything was ready for 10 days later when I did!

Joels capsule was one that had a base so that was in from when I was admitted early, with Leah there was no base so it just sat in the boot till we needed it.

I'm not sure when I will get around to doing the baby bag, probably in two months time once the nursery is painted.

Sorry to highjack your thread but just wondering if anyone isn't going to/hasn't in the past washed all the baby clothes you have bought? I have bought quite a lot already (thanks BIL who gets 40% off at Pumpkin Patch!) and everyone keeps telling me to only wash a few things in case I need to return stuff for sizing? But it sounds like everyone washes everything before baby arrives?

I haven't washed EVERYTHING yet but I might as well cause DP ripped all the tags off as soon as we got them home so probably can't return anything anyway.
