Now that I dont have a job to go back to, DH and I are thinking what the hey.. lets bring TTC forward.
We have not started yet (I want to loose a bit more weight first and make sure we can survive on one income) but have been looking at double buggys. I know, so sad! I am thinking either Phil & Teds or Mountain Buggy... Leaning more to the MB, for those who have one can you have the carry cot on side and seat on the other? Experiences would be good. TIA  -------------

I had a MB, I didn't use the cot though so can't answer that. I ended up selling mine and buying one of these
The mountain buggy I found a pain to fold down and put in and out of the car, I also found it hard to fit anything else in the boot once the buggy was in there so when I took my dogs out they were crammed in there with their little faces pushed up against the glass. It also is kind of a pain to take anywhere except the mall or wide open spaces, not exactly suitable for the local cafe, or the doctors etc. Having said that it has been by far the best buggy I have used for steering and it felt very solid. The one in the pic is great but the seats only go up to 15kg, so if you have big toddler it wouldn't be great. I take it outside along forest tracks and it's fine, the handles are a bit wafty but nothing you can't get over. It folds down like an umbrella stroller and fits in my footwell. When I have the rear seat upright Kyle can see out over the top of Spencer so I don't mind them being one behind the other and it's easier to put the seat reclined so when he starts getting sleepy I lower him down. -------------

I really lik emy P&T. You will notice that I only have one child but I look after others so this is why I have experince with two.
It is a small pain when the little one is still laying flat but this is only for such a short time in the scheme of thing (6-7months and nap times there after). I do find it absolutely fantastic with the toddler in back. I know that you are meant to put the little one in the back but often the bigger on ends up there and this means they can get out and walk for a bit or hope in without too much hassle. I think i have talked myself out of the mb and into the p&t.... and now i am actually awake have gone into the product review section as I should have done last night LOL.

| I'm totally looking at the P & T Vibe as it seems to be the only option to have a newborn and a big 2.5 year old. I'm not keen on the kiddy board that goes on the back of some and we're planning on more kids so will come in handy! |

HAve a P & T Sport here (in racy red!). I got the doubles kit as well. I just wanted to say that the doubles kit can also be used as a bouncinette - just buy the legs. Google "Lazy Ted" and you will see what I mean. Only have one child at the mo, but so glad I got the doubles kit, we use that bit for feeding etc and it's so portable. This morning Brooke sat in with me in the bathroom. The doubles kit can be connected to the front or rear of the pram. The only disadvantage I've found with the pram so far is that it is difficult or impossible to raise/lower the height setting with the baby already in the pram. Oh also you can buy a P & T capsule and connection piece that turns the pram into a "transport system". ------------- http://lilypie.com">

i dont like the ones that put either baby or toddler behind the first seat, but most twins dont fit through doorways or you cant get storm covers etc... because im looking at such a small age gap too i found the p&t twin. it does everything the other ones dont. here is a pic, and you can see all the specs on the P&T website

We bought the P&T Sport and it came with a free double kit at the time which was a bonus. I just used it the other day with 8 month DD in the back and 20 month old nephew in the front. It was great! DD did not seem to mind being in the back at all and my nephew loved being able to look around and play peek a boo with her. ------------- http://alterna-tickers.com">

Another option is exactly like the P&T - it's a Love N Care Europa (can get them at Farmers and Baby on the Move). They retail for the same price as a P&T ($720) but Farmers often have them on special for about $450-500.
I got a 6mo one off TM a couple of months back for $340 Cos it was in Invercargill noone wanted to get it shipped (we got free shipping). It's fab, does everything the P&T does, has the back part covered when baby is lying down (which apparently P&T don't? I don't know if that's right or not though). Only prob is the only double covers I could find were over in Oz but they worked out the same price as P&T covers to buy in NZ (I'm sure you could use a P&T one but I preferred to buy the one specifically for the brand).
The layback for the newborn is also able to positioned at whatever height you want - not limited to 3 settings or whatever as its on a pulley-type system. I think that'll come in quite handy! Oh and they have great reviews, a lot of reviews saying that if you get them for a good price, they're way better than P&T as they've basically copied the design and made improvements from complaints about P&T. The brake is still a b*tch though! So yeah if you have no money like we do and can't justify spending a small fortune on just a pram, I would highly recommend them. They pop up on TM every once in a while. |

mon i wasnt too keen on them, but I have come around. They do have double sun and rain covers to cover both kids and there is a bit of room between them when it is in toddler/toddler mode. Plus if you only have one kid with you then you dont need to have 2 prams.... I hate my pram anyway, so DH has oked the new purchase... i just need to save up the money for it and I can buy it. Yeah! I am going for the dash. -------------

We only had a $50 stroller of trademe for henry so i figured we might as well buy the new pram and get use out of it with one child and then two. I couldnt put the brake on the sport on - actually couldnt do it no matter how hard i tried. The other thing we liked about the dash was the draw string part to adjust the recline of the seat. Better than haveing to unclip millions of buckles. Obviously havent tried it for any length of time with two children but have had a couple of trips with two toddlers and it worked great. Will be interesting to see how it goes with a newborn and toddler. Cant wait!!! |
