I hope I've posted in the right place ...

Wondering if anyone out there can recommend a MW based in / around St Heliers in Auckland?

Try Lee Moselen - she is based in Epsom, and is apparently very very good!! Her number is 524 2440, I know quite a few people who have used her and they all loved her.

Hey there - there's one MW that I think is based in Glen Innes that has been used by a few of the girls on here and they speak highly of her. Unfortunately all the ones I'm thinking of who have used her aren't pregnant anymore so they probably won't see this thread.

You may want to put this question in the first baby, second or more section as well.

Bobbie would be referring to Yvonne Daji who is amazing, so much that I traveled from Parnell (then Henderson) to have her

Thanks guys - I have Yvonne's name in the imfo back the Dr gave me. Isn't easy knowing where to start, but great to have a name!

I was actually given a name of another lady who I phoned earlier today. I told her my due date and asked if she would mind me popping in to see her. She was rather short and told me that she didn't have time to see me or to answers any of my questions. She said that everyone who came to her had been recommended so no need to spend time answering my questions

I got off the phone and was a bit miffed. Every says to take the time to find a mw you get on with but if every mw is going to respond with those sorts of answers I'm wondering how you go about picking.

Fingers crossed the next call will be a little better

I hate to tell you this, but I rang 13 mws before I found one that could take me. I ended up with one that obviously wasnt my first (or second or third....) choice, but she was fine.

I'd ring Yvonne and say she came recommended by a few people on here. I'm sure that will get you in her good graces

Hi Pants,

I've been told to call these guys:

http://www.mama-maternityinfo.co.nz/

Apparently you tell them what you want in a midwife and they find one for you. It's a free service as well. I haven't called them yet, but I'm having my acupuncture in the same building tomorrow morning so I'll call in and see them then.

I am with Pregnancy Care Midwives! I am with Hilary but there are 4 MWs and I will get to meet them all (have met Yvonne and she is lovely) as one of them might be my MW on the day if Hilary is tied up with another birth.

My sister used them both times (she had a lady who is not there anymore for #1 and Hilary for #2) and recommended I call them.

Those guys must get a lot of business from OB gals. ;) I wound up with Hilary, as my initial MW couldn't do my revised EDD - she was great and the setup they have there means someone's always available. And yes, Yvonne's a sweetie. :)

I have only just found out Im pregnant and was wondering when is the right time to approach a midwife... Do you have to wait until after 12 weeks?

I used Mama-Maternity for my midwife. It is a collective of midwives based in Balmoral. I guess they do provide info services as well, but primarily they are a group of mws that work together. There are about 12 of them I think, so chances are you can find someone there that is a "fit" for you.

Treen - who are you having your accupuncture with?

He he, yep, I'm famous

Yvonne delivered all four of my girls, including both gremlins, and she is brilliant. I wouldn't want anyone else to deliver my babies

I hope that's not true, I'm still looking for a good MW!

Thanks everyone - I called Pregnancy Midwives yesterday and spoke to Yvonne. She was so nice, made me feel really comfortable and seems to have a good idea of how was feeling having just found out about being pregnant for the first time.

I have an appointment with her when I get to 8 weeks, will get bloods etc done then.

Yah, feeling good about Yvonne - there has been so much good feedback about her

Thanks everyone

Good choice, I'm seeing her as well and she has been fantastic so far. Amazingly accomodating given my change of circumstances (and city of residence). I am so attached to her, that I am commuting two and a half hours for my appointments! Now I just have to hope I make it to Auckland in time to deliver....
