If you had a stretch and sweep with any of your pregnancies, what were your symptoms like the day after (and did you go into labour within 48 hours)? Just wondering what is usual post-sweep cramping, discharge etc and what is something more.

TIA!

After my one yesterday I was bit achy but nothing major. Had some long walks and spent time bouncing on my swiss ball. In the night was often woken with painful tightenings. This morning I have had a big bloody show (but don't know if that could just be from the sweep) and am having painful tightenings that stop my in my tracks every 10mins but they are very short...like about 15 seconds. They are also low down not across my belly button. They're in my lower back and low down on my bump.

Just wondering if this is nothing i.e. usual for the day after a s&s or could be something? I'm due to drive dd to a party at 10am....

I had one on the Tuesday - MW stretched me to 3cm.. baby was super low that if i sneezed she'd just fall out..

However, by thursday arvo was well over it and ended up taking castor oil.. My MW was adamant I would go into labour within 48hrs because everything was ready to go (except the baby obviously)

Good luck

I had one with dd and got some show and cramping, but didn't go into labour until six days later, while in labour midwife did another and THAT got things going. I think your body has to be ready .

Forgot to add, yep felt lots of cramping and aching day after.
Your show could be from the S&S, I would probably just ring your LMC and have a chat with her - either way, it sounds like your bundle is coming very soon

I'm similar to freckle. I has mine done when I was 4 days overdue as a scan I had done that morning estimated I was carrying a 10lb 4oz baby!! I had one at 11.30am, had cramping and light blood tinged discharge by 3pm, contractions started around 8.15pm, waters broke 12.40am Floyd was born at 3.20am (weighing 9lb10oz)

I found that it hurt quite a bit at the time (nothing compared to labour in hindsight!), My MW said she had found people that found it uncomfortable normally went into labour that day, and those who said it was fine didnt. (dont know if there is any truth in this though)

Yep Sarah, perhaps there is some truth... I found it completely fine, in fact DH and I were pissing ourselves considering the situation.. and the fact my MW kept cracking jokes at my expense!

And I didn't go into labour till as i said 2 days later with the aid of castor oil

Midwife is sure it is early labour but as always said it may take hours or days to progress. So I'm going to go about my day.

my midwife gave me one about 1pm on the thursday afternoon...she then told me to go for a big walk..did that around the lake.

then I mowed our lawn with a push mower and the front of our lawn is on slope.

on the friday morning around 8am MW gave me another stretch and sweep...10am starting getting mild contractions...Megan was born saturday 6:12am

With Amy it was done at about 5pm and Amy was born at lunchtime the next day (but I was 8 days overdue)

With Sophie it was done on the Tuesday afternoon (4 days over) and she was born on Thursday 6pm. On the Wednesday I was a bit crampy, quite a bit overnight and then Thursday I went about my day (but DH stayed at home). We went to coffee group at the playground and then late afternoon it was all on in a rush - waters broke at 4ish, left for hospital at 5, arrived at 5.45 (gggrrr rush hour ) and Sophie arrived at 6!

Had a few with Jack but none resulted in anything except a few cramps.

Had one with Caprece and the mw didn't think it would work as she was OP but it gave me a bloody show and went into early labour the next morning and was in proper labour that night.

Good luck

I had one with DB and went into labour exactly a week later, I don't think it was as a result of the S&S either.

How are you feeling this afternoon?

Had one with C and went into labour 2 days later, don't recall many symptoms after the S & S tho

Also had one with Ty, next day felt crampy and lost some of my mucous plug , and started having contractions on and off for the next four days

I think a lot depends on how far down baby is when they do it , and if its done before or after your due date (C was done after , Ty was done before )

Well as mentioned lost the plug this morning and had strong contractions every 7 to 10 mins all day but now they are only every 30mins and are not as long.    Midwife said it is very common to have a day of contractions then a break and then for them to start again. Oh well! Time will tell.

Fiona - that is kind of what happened after my s&s for Sophie. I had it late on the Tuesday (appointment was after DH finished work) and then it was Wednesday night I was up for a few hours. Thursday it calmed down during the day and then it was all on in a rush from 4 til 6pm.

Hopefully tomorrow will be your day .

Contractions continued to get longer stronger and more intense last night got to 3mins apart from 10pm to midnight then from midnight to 6am spread way out to 30mins apart again. Now they are all over the place. Not loving it! Give me the 2 hour 47min induced labour I had with Elle thanks! This 24 hours of latent phase business is rough.

I had 4 days of it , it sucked , make sure when you can you walk lots etc , to keep bringing baby down .
And my midwife said to relax as well , so I had a bath , and an hour later contractions were finally those "oh god, why am I doing this again " ones

Hehe yeah I've had those ones all day . Seriously they have been as strong as my syntocin ones were with Elle. I thought we were finally there when they were 5mins apart for an hour but now.....20mins apart again.

Done lots of walking, sitting on swiss ball and had a couple of hot baths but nope.

So didn't expect this.

Is it normal for a midwife to not see you in this situation? She just keeps saying it may take up to a week and go in when contractions are regularly 3mins apart and intense.

Yeah ,mine didn't seem very interested either , in fact she , and the back up , made me feel guilty for ringing, "just relax " blah blah , thats all very well , but just because its your second or subsequent baby , doesn't mean you know EVERYTHING about childbirth!

I know how much this false/latent labour sucks, I really hope you don't have to go through much more , ....come on baby !!!

I rang my midwife and she said you could be in labour all day she would ring us later in the afternoon and see how Im going, 45 minutes we were on the phone to her and when she finally came over I was already 8cm!
GRRR to your midwife!
especially giving your quick labour last time!

my MW told me to *lie down and take some panadol* I put the phone down and burst into tears .

That was at 3.30pm and Sophie was born at 6pm, 15 minutes after we got the hospital. I only had time to get my trousers and undies off - I was still wearing my nice Mobea top!

If I have a third I may as well just stay at home
