I need a little advice. I have been for 2 scans now but hubby hasn't come along for them, I sort of figured there is no use if all we will see is a blob. So I have to go for another next friday at which stage I will be 10 weeks and 4 days. Would we be able to see more than just a little blob or would you suggest I take him with when I go for the nt scans after 12 weeks?

I've had quite a few scans now - MIL came to the one at 7w, DH came to the one at 9w which he was kind of "blah" about because it still doesn't really look like a baby, MIL came to NT scan and by then it actually looked like a baby with arms and legs, DH came to my next one at 15w which he really enjoyed because then it really looked like babies - moving around and all. Since then he's been to most of them - he loves seeing his girls jumping around and moving, whereas the early scans weren't as "real" for him because they didn't look like babies...just kidney beans (as he called them).
What does your DH want to do?

My DH has been to them all - 6w, 13w, 20w. The first one was to support me more than to see the baby, because we were going to see if baby was viable, and the others because we kinda view this as something we are doing together so it just made sense for him to be there.
At 13 weeks, it was definately a baby, and more so on screen moving around than in the photo we got printed off so was definitely more interesting to be at the scan.
But my DH wanted to be there - does yours? I imagine if he wants to be there, he won't be disappointed, but if he doesn't really want to come, then he might be less impressed?

i had scans every 2 weeks and DH came to all of them except one. in the small chance something wasnt right it meant he was with me, it also gave us a chance to get excited together and ask questions about anything he wanted to.

DH came to my first one in China, approx 9 weeks, but we didn't see anything (screen turned away, language barrier). My mum flew up from Blenheim for the 12 week one, and we forced DH to watch the DVD. Then he came to the 20 week one, where we found out the sex (all he was interested in really, but I think he was pleased he came).

I made my DP come to Gabrielle's 19wk scan - he didn't want to cos he thought of the 'blob' thing (he'd come to the dating scan and been disapointed. I just made him come cos I knew how cool it would be and didn't want him to miss out on seeing that. He did really enjoy it too, though he didn't come to Tane's 19wk, it's just not 'real' to him until the baby is 'out'.

My DF was really keen to come, in fact he has come to every single appointment I've had so far. He is really excited about it and wants to be a part of ALL things pregnancy related.
He was really blown about by the 12 week scan (our first) and was good for him I think to make it all the more real. Can't wait for the 20 week one now.

With Caden, DH came to the 20 week scan and he loved it He wasnt so interested in the 12 week scan DVD as Caden looked like an "alien" to him lol!
This time was the same, he was at the 20 week scan, but not my 12 week one.
I also had early scans with both my kids as I had bleeding both times before 12 weeks. He wasnt at those, Cadens one I had my nana there, and this baby I had one of my best friends with me(MrsH23).

I had monthly scans and DH was at all but the first one. I had an early scan at my first ob/gyn appointment, he seemed quite interested in the pictures when I came home but not too bothered he wasn't there. My next scan was 11w4d and there was definitely something to see then, Callum was waving at us and everything I think DH found it a lot more "real" that we were having a baby. He was really excited about my 20w scan and took the morning off work to come to the hospital with me and then we went out for lunch.

My DH has come to most of mine, he only missed one at 9w4d. Heres a pic of that one so you can see a semi baby forming and will see much more than a blob.
DH was so amazed at this pic that he showed everyone that came round for the week lol.

Yea I think the anatomy scan is the best one - we didn't have 12 week but the anatomy (18-22weeks) you see it all! :)

My DH has been to my 11 week NT one but thats it. He just can't get out of work for the others. But I did get a DVD of the 20 week one which he really enjoyed watching.

DP came to all of mine, he was so excited when he saw the head at the 12week scan. I did organise them round times I knew he'd be able to come as he works nights so that was easy. He only came to about 2mw appointments though as they were when he was working in the arvo

DH has come to all appts and scans with me. I think the first few scans were a bit boring for him in a blob sense but he still enjoyed being apart of our growing bubs. And I also wanted him there as well

Babies dad has come to all of the scans. The first 2 he was a little out of his depth and just made jokes about him being a blob.
But we had our 20 week scan yesterday and he almost cried.
I think it's good for partners to come to the scan cause they can see that there is actually something rowing and wriggling around inside of you. I have found that the guys can't really relate to the baby, they only evidence they can see if your growing tummy and thats about it. So scans give them the ability to connect.

Amstaff- still made no difference to my Dh...he is the most brilliant Dad now but he just wasn't interested in the pregnancy or the baby kicking or anything ..even after the scan... weirdly he has been quite different this time..maybe because he has seen how brilliant having a child is:)

have not read other's but my DH came to my scan's but I only have had 1 for each preg I guess if I had more then that he prob not come to them all cause its hard to get time off work for them . I did have 2 with Emily and he only came to the first one second one was only quick to see if baby was a good size we had her 2 day's later anyway. My hubby has not really been all that intrested in my last 3 preg till near the end like when i am huge and he can see eel baby moving and he is a very hand's on Dad /.

My DH is the same - wasn't really interested in the scans and stuff, it was only when he could see/feel the girls moving that he started to really get involved, and will no doubt be more so when they arrive. He is fantastic though, and I think without him I would have cracked by now. And the only reason he came to most of the scans (because I have so many) is because he was off work, so he COULD come - the ones he didn't come to were because he couldn't get the time off work. In saying that though, I have been on 4 weekly scans, and now fortnightly (and sometimes less than that), my whole pregnancy from 7w so it's not like there's a lack of choice!! My Mum and MIL have come to a few as well.
