Can anyone recommend a good (cheap) hairdresser in CHCH? I just want to get a cut/fringe but sadly can no longer afford my old hairdresser. It turns out kids are a real money drain!

My hairdresser is great - she is about $50 I think for a cut. Is in Riccarton Rd but the only prob is that she is pregnant and leaving work in Sept so not much help if you want one to carry on with, not just a one off.

Nah it's just a one off. Need to look less ferral for my birthday outing tomorrow. Have ended up going with Rodney Wayne in Ferrymead they are charging $60 so I guess that will do for now. I just can't get over how much a hair cut is!

I do need a new hairdresser though at some stage so if anyone has any more suggestions they would totally be appreciated.

I've just been going to "Haircut Express" (i think that's what it's called), which is in Eastgate. It's between Divine Cakes & PostiePlus. I think it's approx $35 for a cut. I''ve just gotten my fringe cut the last 2 times and it's only $6. I haven't had my actual hair cut since I was 38 weeks pregnant and Rhys is now 7 months old. Slack! It's on the to-do list though.

Wow thats so cheap! I was actually wondering about that place? I knew they sold hair products but wasn't sure if they actually did cuts or not. Maybe I should try them.

Now I'm really impressed haha. I've always been extremely vain about my hair and had the same incredibly expensive hair dresser for 5 years now. I usually pay around $220 for cut and colour. Obviously with Wallace and Gromit entering our lives I had to put a stop to that. Now I'm using box dye from the supermarket The funny thing is it's doesn't look any bloody different. That'll teach me!

I go to the cutting company on Warrington St - $15 for a haircut and free for fringe trim. OK so you don't get your hair washed, but they are all really good. No appointment necessary.

I have a lady who does it from her home, she is fully qualified etc... but has a wee one so this way she can stay at home. She charges $25 per 'treatment' so if you just want a cut its $25, if you want cut and colour its $50 etc... and she is awesome.... if anyone wants her contact details just PM me, oh and she lives in burwood.

I paid 75 for a cut and colour (with foils and base) at my hairdresser. A perm, cut, and colour with 2/3 hair products maybe 150ish. But then I def do not live in Chch

Man I've been going to the wrong places too, I last paid $140 for a cut and colour and that was with a coupon.

There is that new place in Riccarton mall which is about $65 for a cut, colour and foils I think. I havent been but I have heard its okay.

Another good place to go is the Polytech Training Salon it's pretty cheap and just ask for a second year student which means there full qualified at cutting and always have the tutors watching over them think they charge about $30 for cut and $30 for colour.

The cheap hair place at Riccarton is in the new bit by Hoytts but have heard a few bad things from people although it's probably more a case of who you get.

ETA for spelling

There's one in Ensign st, Halswell that my sis has just started going to... about $45 for a cut - $100 for cut and colour (apparently that's cheap? )

Gosh and here I thought I was splashing out when I paid $25 at Just Cuts when I was pi$$ed off at DH - I usually do everything myself (learnt how to cut a fringe and do layers on youtube - desperate times call for desperate measures lol!)

Yeah the new place is upstairs, its all new trainees or something I heard and you don't make an appointment just go in there.

Lol Emz not a bad idea doing it yourself, its so expensive.

Haha I've been looking for a hairdresser in CHCH too - I haven't cut my hair since I found out I was preggy! Which was only a few weeks after I shaved all my hair off! I used to pay $40 for a damn good haircut at a nice salon in Wellington... sounds like CHCH is far more expensive!
