Hi Oxy - it took me 7 years with DD and trialing clomid and ovarian drilling, the next three pregnancies was around the 2 to 3 cycles.

I hope you don't have too much longer to wait.

Currently on our 3rd attempt and been trying for 4 months. Took 3 months for 1st pregnancy (m/c in Sep 08) had to wait 3 months to try again (doctors orders) and then it only took 1 month for 2nd pregnancy (m/c in Mar 09).

Hi Oxy,  I have been casually trying to fall pregnant for around 14 years thinking that it will happen when it happens.  Even when I was going for tests through the GP from the age of 37 and going through IVF I was not aware of the whole process of falling pregnant.

Its only now at 41,  that I am actively focussed and learning as much as I can about ttc and what I can do to try and overcome my infertility and I know that my time is running out fast!  My one consolation is that my Gran had her last child at 43 and I am hoping that I might get lucky before then.

Have you had any blood tests for your hormone levels so that you know what you can work with?

We have been trying for almost 6 months now, AF hasn't arrived after being on the pill for 6 years

I got pregnant with Hannah on my 18th cycle.

*eta: It can't hurt to talk to your GP.
It may be something really simple that can be done to help (eg: taking vitex or something else to regulate your cycle).

We've been trying for 2 and a half years.

One MC in that time. Charting for about 12 of those months. Lap and dye about a year ago. Told wouldn't have kids without IVF due to my endo but am determined to prove the docs very very wrong and not keen on IVF either. So we seeing a kinesiologist and I've been using NLP to stay positive.

I have now 2 wks ago been diagnosed with a prolapsed uterus finally after 1st heading to dr 3 yrs ago thinking something was wrong. We are finally heading to Fertility Associates in 4 wks.

Gosh some of you ladies have really had a long and arduous (sp?) journey, the reward is worth it though. I hope you are all on the home stretch now!!
TTC number one, came off pill end of Oct 08, pregnant February miscarried around 5 weeks, pregnant again July miscarried around 6 weeks. Off to specialist in early Aug to make sure there is nothing wrong before getting pregnant again.

We tried for 11 months with Jake. I didnt ovulate for the first 6 monyhs, then we conceived but had a miscarriage at 8 weeks, 9 weeks later we conceived Jake.

I thought ours was a long journey but reading how long it has/is taking some of you makes me realise it wasnt so bad.

Baby dust to you all!

We decided to go off the pill in April and fell PG before AF arrived (were going to start trying the next cycle!) but MC at 6 and a half weeks, AF has just arrived (first one after MC) but now I get to have surgery on my knee and cant be PG, so even though I am still waiting for a date the Dr said it should be mid August so hoping to only miss one cycle of TTC.
So cycle wise I am up to this being my 1st (kinda?) But months 3ish?
Wow it is amazing (not sure if that is the right word?) at how many MC we have...
I hope you all dont have much longer to wait

I started trying in August 2008. Fell PG second cycle but miscarried at 11 1/2 weeks. Not a bite since then. This is my 5th cycle of trying since my MC. I'm gonna go for help if the 6th doesn't work.

We fell on our second cycle of trying and I feel guilty coming in here and saying that.

With DD11 I came off the pill and didnt have another period and with DS8 I had one period once we decided to try so I guess I am just one of those lucky ones that fall easily.

We were worried it might take a while considering this is DH and my first child.

I dont know if I would be able to cope with months of trying and disappointment every month, I admire your strength and perseverance (sp?). I hope you all get your BFPs very soon, you all totally deserve it!!!

We took 4 months each time. This time when we got pregnant was at new years, i was on holiday and relaxed about the whole thing. We were lucky to only take 4 months even if it did feel like ages (i have 45 day cycles)

Good luck to all those waiting for their BFP's. I admire your perserverence and courage!

This is my journey so far lol

July08 - went off the jab after being on it for 5 years straight.
Oct08 - AF decided to visit

Now 9months later and still nothing

Visited GP 2weeks ago was advised to get my Day21 bloodtests for progesterone levels.

14July09 - Day21 bloodtest
15July09 - called doctors and was advised by nurse I got 20.6 which is normal and that was all she could tell me -

I guess now I have to make an appointment with GP to explain that number further and what do I do from now on -

goodluck to everyone else who are TTC

Good idea starting this post, it's nice to know that there are others out there in the same boat.

As for me we have been trying for nearly a year, and about 8 cycles of clomid. I think I'm one of those women for whom clomid doesn't really do much. It did work a few times, but I'm finding metformin is better for me.

Good luck to everyone I look forward to hearing all the success stories!

Molz988 I'm guessing you have been on Depo shots? Same for me (2 1/2 years). Try not to get down - it's quite brutal stuff and I won't be going back on it for a while but they reckon it's around nine months for everything to go back to normal after being on that.

I had my last injection Oct 08, was meant to go back for next 3 month injection Dec 08 but didn't. Got married Jan 09. No AF for three months, had one AF middle of March and would had conceived early April! Didn't know I was pregnant though till taking the test in June. Most of my pregnancy symptoms I put down to either the Depo working its way out of my system or just the weather getting colder. We were just extremely lucky as I was thinking nothing would happen till at least the end of the year and the only thing we did was me coming off birth control!

Good luck and best baby wishes to ya'll

Lurker?

Umm  MindyW... I read on one of the forums that having Clomid longer than 3 months is not good for your lining etc     Have you heard of Metformin?  apparently it works wonders for PCOS    see this link and start reading from the 5th post ....    http://www.fertilethoughts.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-297796.html - http://www.fertilethoughts.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-297796.html

Thanks Shezzy, I read that link and I appreciate the thought. Makes for a lot of questions for my speacialist. Though it does say that if you are ovulating then clomid can cause those probs and act as a contraceptive.... Hard to say, I've put my trust in a fertility specialist OB/GYN; I dont know who wrote that comment on the website ie what their qualifications are, or if it is evidence based. I will certainly be asking my specialist on the 5th. Trouble is I dont ovulate without it, my glucose levels and Hb1ac are fine so I dont think that I have insulin resistance
