Hey guys...
I'm freaking out right now..... i got a faint positive on a hpt (period due tomorrow).
In general being UTD would be awesome, except that iwas not supposed to be BD'ing AT ALL till the 23rd of this month.
I had a ruptured Ectopic almost 5 weeks ago (5 wks tomorrow...) and had one of my tubes removed.
We tried to be good... and we tried using condoms but they're horrible.... and now it looks like i'm preggie.....
Does anyone know what risks there may be getting UTD so soon after an ectopic or even after abdo surgery?
I'm going to POAS tomorrow to be sure before i brace myself for the lecture from my GP....
It is a very faint positive but definitaly there..... i asked DF to look at it before i explained how it worked. He saw the line too....
(and yes i know... i'm an idiot for not listening to the docs but i never thought in a million years i'd get UTD so easily after trying for 5 months last time...)

Sorry I can't help too much as I had to wait 6 months after my ectopic (I had drugs instead of tube removed) until I was allowed to think of getting preggers again. Good luck with the GP though.

if the egg implants in the right place i cant think of any immediate risks other than possible infection so if they monitor you real close at the start it should be ok but i would still get to a doctor first thing 2mrw. im only first year studying reproduction as part of my bio-med degree so im not an expert but hopefully they'll keep a real close eye on you things will be ok.
on the flip side, and sorry to be a downer, it is possible that it may implant close to the removal site and when it grows and stretches in the early stages the fragile site may not stretch. i know that sounds real horrible and not trying to freak you out. its pretty unlikely but the doc will be able to tell strait away what is going on with an ultrasound and you'll be in no danger.

Thanks Guys....
I had thought about 'what if' it implanted by scar tissue or something... and i guess it's just all down to luck, which sux, lol.
They warned me about infection, but said that it was a slim risk and not to stress too much about it, so when using condoms got too hard we just gave up.
The scary thing is that when we were trying to concieve before the ectopic, we bd'd every day, sometimes for fun, sometime for a baby, and it took ages!
Since the surgery we have only bd'd 4 times, last night being the last time, so only possibly once around the time i would normally O, and i came on here then freaking out.... lol.... such fun.
QUESTION: A positive is always a positive eh? You cant get a false positive right? What if you pee'd on the stick a little too much or too little? Can that change the reliabilty of the test? Or is a line a line.....???
Just checking.... not really sunk in yet i dont think?

Yep a line is a line. You can get false negatives but not false positives - unless you read the test outside of the time limit and are looking at an evap line.
Just wanted to wish you good luck - I hope that little egg has implanted in the right place and everything goes well.

HUGs
Best to get to the DRs - I have no experience with eptopics - but when I fell preg this time straight after a MC (I too assumed it would be as long a wait as the first one), they did HCG tests to make sure it was a legit BFP and not left over hormones.
Fingers crossed hun!

Well now i'm officially confussed!
I did another test this morning, a MS Quick card one, and it was definitly a BFN....
The one yesterday was a Crystal Clear, and the line was visible within the five minutes... i'm sure of it... although now i'm starting to doubt my own eyes???
I guess the only way to know for sure is to go for a blood test or wait for AF and see if she shows???
I wish early pregnancy was simple!

The quickcards are often later to show a bfp in my experience... I got positive on FR several days before it showed on a quickcard ... Although I have had a few false positives with blue tests as well...

I did a quickcard at the doc's the first pregnancy and it came up negative. But I had already got a definite positive on the FR.

Hi Krissie, it can be abit confusing after a m/c. I was still getting +ve hpt's 4-6 weeks after my m/c, it took that long for my hcg levels to recede back down to normal. So I figure you would need to get two hcg bloods done about 3 days apart to really see what your hormones are doing.
Goodluck and I hope its a nice wee surprise for you

Because my entire tube was removed, along with all the ectopic tissue, my Hcg levels were back down to 7 within 5 days.
At day 8 my hcg was under 2.
I spoke briefly to the receptionist at my GP's and she is going to get a nurse to call me in the morning, and i'll ask her for a form to get bloods done.
It's hard though cause i sort of keep going to the loo expecting af to be here, but so far nothing.
I do have some very mild cramps this evening, like i'd get if AF were here, but it's so hard to know what i'm feeling when every little thing could be interpreted either way.
Thanks for your support ladies, and hopefully i'll have an anwswer one way or the other by Wednesday.
( it's interesting to see how many have had a BFN with quickcards early on )

Good luck Krissie. And if your doc gives you a lecture rather than advice for where to from here, I suggest you find a new doctor

I am pretty new here, but wanted to say good luck with the results, and also the pregnancy if that is indeed the way it is going.
I hope it is a stress and event free pregnancy for you.
Take care.

I'm guessing its a BFP then...
I'm sure you're freaking out right now - and probably will keep freaking out until you get to see bubs on a scan. Let us know how you're doing!

Hey guys, Yep it's official, Im UTD.
Yay.... but oh so scary too!
My hcg on tuesday was only a piddly 52, so i'm only 'just' preggie, or it's another ectopic!
Ive got more bloods to do tomorrow, being friday, and hopefully the levels will be sky high..... FX!
I dont know how many dpo i am, as i dont temp, or do opk's, but if i believe my cm then i would be about 20dpo today (being thursday).... but that is just a semi educated guess. I wasn't even charting this month so not keeping a close eye on anything, as this was not supposed to be happening.....
but as the saying goes..." the best laid plans...."???
Anyway, i'll keep you posted.
Thanks for the well wishes!
