Ok, so everytime my eldest DD (2 1/2 years old) goes outside, I LATHER her up in SPF 70 sunscreen and reapply, reapply, reapply. My DH thinks I go overboard but thats a whole other story lol. She has never been sunburnt (or even slightly pink) but I have noticed that she is very tanned (and even has tog tan lines). We are fair skinned but I tan very easily. I always believed that sunscreen stopped this from happening or does it just stop the skin from getting burnt and going red?? Is she still getting sun damage?? Arrr, all the questions.

Unfortunately, if you tan, there is sun damage. And it doesn't matter how often you reapply you can only get the maximum 70x protection so if she would burn in 5 minutes without sunscreen she has 350 minutes (or 5 and a half hours) before she BURNS.
