Hi,

i read that at around 7 months you can give babies pasta.

Just wondering how others are doing this, do you cook and then mush up?

Also how varied do you make meals. Finley is pretty good (most the time) he will eat what he is given, so he has fruit for breakfast then veg for lunch and a mix of veg and chicken at the mo (its whats in the freezer) for dinner.

The veg combos tend to be carrot, cauli, peas, sweet pot, potato, broccoli and swede.

I haven't really tried him on anything new for a while, should I still be introducing new foods every few days.

Is there a good book I can get about food and recipes?

There is a good Alison & Simon Holst babies and toddlers cookbook! Just google.

There are others too ... I've looked at a couple ... check your local library! You don't have to buy books when you can borrow them for free.

I'd keep introducing new foods and new textures (as long as he's not too young for them). Give him a variety so he doesn't get bored with the same old stuff. I try not to give the same thing 2 days in a row. In a couple of weeks (7 months) you can start mixing in a bit of cottage cheese with the vege or a bit of plain yoghurt with the fruit etc. You can also mix in grated cheese with vege.

I haven't done pasta yet. I'm keeping my bubs off wheat until about 8 or 9 months, just 'cos there is a family history of gluten intolerance on my hubby's side. By that stage she'll just be able to bite off chunks of the pasta - she already has 2 teeth.

Joel mainly has finger food now, so for dinner he has had some slices of cheese, a marmite sandwich, some grapes (peeled and cut in half) some of Leah pasta (complete with red pasta sauce!) half a pot of yogurt (his first try, and its normal adult yogurt) and some sausage.

I just give him pretty much what we eat now, I don't mash his veges up anymore as he won't eat them frm a spoon so he has them in chunks now, the only things he eats from a spoon are custard, yogurt and his porridge and fruit at brekkie.

As you can see with what he ate for tea tonight I was really slack and let time get away on me and didn't get around to doing his veges, but what the heck its friday night!!!!!!!!!!

Henry eats whole macaroni - has done for a while now. I just cook it like normal and spoon it to him one or two pieces at a time. He does have 8teeth though so is capable of chewing them up.

I have been giving my wee fella mashed up spaghetti sometimes for lunch.

He only has two teeth but the spaghetti is soft enough that he swallows it fine.
