Thought we could do with a thread for those lonely middle of the night times when baby won't sleep etc and you need to vent or just speak to others in the same situation!

I'll start off.....

I'm up because we went to an antenatal group BBQ - Brooke really performed and I hardly got to eat.  So I'm raiding the fridge.  Oh and I have a bad tummy (TMI).

Oooh, this is a great idea!

May be in here later tonight, Jake has slept solidly all day and I fear we will be in for a long night!

Ok, I thought I might bump this topic coz I wonder what other people do during the witching hour to keeps bubs amused/happy/not overstimulated etc!

Liam fights going to sleep later in the day and I try to stretch him out to 6.30 at least before bedtime but feel meanie pants when he is feeling grizzly...but if I didn't DH would hardly see him!!!

I want some little activities that we can do to keep him calm but happy until bathtime!!
Any brilliant ideas??

I'll loan you my 6 year old....He beats her up, keeps him quite amused!

How about some pots & pans or measure spoons, cups. Cooper loves things like that.

When H was tiny I used to take him for a walk - made him sleep every time. When he got a bit older I used to put him in the bouncer and give him a rusk to suck on - that kept him amused for a good 45min to an hour. Now I have no ideas He is trying to walk and crashing everywhere or climbs up on my legs.

We often go for a walk as generally he's quite calm and relaxed in the pushchair, though doesn't sleep even when I go for over an hour!

Also, if I don't go for a walk I sometimes try carrying him around in the sling as if he doesn't have an afternoon nap he gets a bit grizzly if I try and put him on the ground.

Or I give him to DH

But he's starting to get better without that nap, so maybe they're just growing out of that late afternoon nap? Though usually by 6pm he's done, and there's no holding off any longer, so it's bath/bottle/bed then.

Hmm, yes 6pm seems to be the cut off time for Liam these days, used to be 7-8 but now he seems ready for bed so much earlier....maybe I just accept that is bed time for him right now and not worry too much that it seems so early!

oh I wish I had the problem of going to bed too early, nothing seems to work to get Teyla to bed before 9 or 10, she sometimes will nap around 6 or 7, for half an hour or so, but no way will she go down for the night then!
