Hi,

According to the colourful plunket list you can offer cheese and yoghurt from 7 months.

Just wondering what types of yoghurt are good to try and when it says cheese, did you just try a bit of grated cheese in with a meal?

From 7 months we offered Caden grated cheese, which he screwed his face up at, but now at nearly 10 months, LOVES it. HE loved yogurt from the first day we tried it, now he has that everyday at lunch time. We only give him the fresh n fruity ones etc, not the dairy food ones(choc etc)

With the grated cheese, I first offered it to him just on his tray, but now we mix some in with his food as well as giving it to him on his tray.

I just started with yoghurt and i get the mai piti ones or fresh n fuity first yoghurts. He loves them. Got to make sure he has his veges first otherwise he just want yoghurt.

I originally got the Petit Yum and the F&F My First yoghurts but they are so expensive compared to the normal ones. So I ended up getting the normal F&F or Yoplait ones and Jack liked the little chunks of fruit. As long as the one you buy isn't labelled as "lite" then it is ok

That plunkett list from Watties has changed in the last year. It is now suggesting that you give potential allergens to children at a younger age. The only reason for the change is that there was not enough scientific proof that these foods are high allergy risks. They are even suggesting that you can give lentils as a stage 1 food and lentils are closely related to peanuts and can cause the same reaction. Personally, I prefer to be safe rather than sorry. The orginal list that we had with Dominic suggests that cheese be given once a child reaches stage 3 (8-9 months).

I have started mixing in plain unsweetened easiyo yoghurt into other foods, for example with fruit (pear, banana etc.) and baby rice or polenta.

Haven't done cheese yet but I think in the grated form it goes in most veggies!

Thats interesting Saffron, I get very confused by plunket sometimes, I mentioned last week I had given Finley some weetbox which they frowned about but think I should give him a bone to chew!!! Which I thought sounded odd, but there you go.

Joels had cheese for about 6 weeks now, I cut it into finger shape and he eats it like that, didn't think of grating it doh!!

Haven't tried yogurt but thats mainly cos there isn't any in the house at the moment, he has normal milk and butter in his mashed vege though, and if I haven't made up enough formula I add normal milk to his porridge.
