Right, I'm on a mission
I've always liked the idea of a January baby, so next cycle is going to be the one...I've decided, so there
I'm hoping my gyno will be able to start me straight on the clomid, I'm booked in with the acupuncturist next week (thanks to Chelle for the recommendation) and I've warned hubby that I expect a good seeing to every other night from cycle day 12
Who want's to join me on my mission?

We all seem in very similar situations as far as acupuncture, clomid etc is concerned.
Shezhoping: I haven't been yet. Got my 1st appointment on Tuesday. Feeling really positive about it though and will probably sign up for 4 or 5 sessions.
What's 'preseed' ? *off to google it just now *

Rillamyrilla, I can claim on acupuncture, too (I'm with Southern Cross) however I was told by my broker that none of the insurance companies in NZ pay out for fertility treatments? I looked it up in my policy document and it says that, too. Who are you with and how are you getting around it? I've already spent about a grand on acupuncture!

I was hoping to say it was for treatment for PCOS, to try and regulate my cycles.... which it is, so I wouldn't be lying.

Ah, okay. Here's a curly one then; I was recently diagnosed with PCOS after visiting a specialist. I told the specialist that I have had an irregular AF since I was a teen, and the specialist has written this in my file and in medical letters to my GP. So that means I can't claim on it, right? Because it's documented that I have had a symptom of PCOS since a teenager, they just gonna say it's a pre-existing condition, right?

hummmmm depends on the terms and conditions of your policy. I'm with Southern Cross, but it's through my OH's work, so it covers pre-exisiting conditions.
I guess it's easiest just to call and ask. Say something along the lines "my symptoms have got a lot worse over the years which caused me to sek alternative therapies".

Posted By: Kellz

Surely its only classed as a pre-exsisting condiotion if it was actually a previously diagnosed condition,...not one that u may had had for years but was not diagnosed til now.
|
Posted By: Treen
Date Posted: 18 April 2009 at 7:05pm
I think if you have had symptoms of something prior to taking out your medical insurance, you're not covered?
I had to have my wisdom teeth out about 5 years ago but because I'd had the odd tooth ache here and there over the years prior to being confirmed by a dentist, they classed it as a pre-existing condition and rejected the claim.
I'm worried about calling them and asking about it, to be honest. I'm not 100% sure, but I'm guessing you might need obstetrician care throughout your pregnancy with PCOS? Because of the higher rate of MCs? Anyway, I'm worried about claiming on the specialist care and acupuncture I'm receiving now in case they call it a pre-existing condition and won't cover me during pregnancy...
Anyone been in a similar situation and know what to do?

Milliemoo, you can get that extra module added to his health insurance, you can phone southern cross and they can add it to his cover. I did that last year when dp was with southern cross. I think it was an extra $15.00 per week, which is way cheaper than paying the accupuncturist fees per week. But they may have a standdown period of a month... not sure. Check it out on their website.

Treen, if you didnt have the condition confirmed before you went on to the health insurance, then it wasnt a pre-existing condition. Your symptoms could have been anything before it was diagnosed IYKWIM..

I've been loving my exercise lately, and power walked 10k and cycled 17k yesterday. Came home and after my bath, stood in front of the mirror and thought 'gawd, it lools like I've just eaten 2 pizzas!'
I've never gone past 42 days I think, so hopefully not long to wait.

Date Posted: 20 April 2009 at 1:32pm
If you see one you like in someone’s signature – there are quite a few sites which do them – just click on the ticker and it will take you to that site. Once you’ve created your own ticker, select and copy the PseudoHTML, UBBCode™ or BBCode code which starts and ends with square brackets and ‘url’. Come back here and click on ‘Profile’ near the top right of your screen, and paste the text where it says ‘Signature’. Make sure you have selected ‘Yes’ next to the option ‘Always attach my signature to posts’ near the bottom of your profile preferences.
You can test that your ticker(s) show up correctly by clicking 'Signature Preview' to the lower right of the signature box.

oh man,...went for my day 21 blood test today, rang specialist to make next appt, discovered that I was supposed to ring them on day 1 of AF to make appt for day 13-14 for ultrasound - but after all the 'day this' and 'day that' in the appointment it went in one ear and out the other
Soo...now I need to wait until day 1 again for further action...and if my cycle is another 60-dayer that's ages away!!! And then I presume I'll have to wait ANOTHER cycle for any clomid she might prescribe!!
Man I am so cross at myself...potentially another 4 months before anything happens! That's like...August!!!!!!!!!! must remember to write stuff down next time.

Milliemoo Hmm the herbals sound ok, not like some of the other potions I've heard the other ladies taking.
There is a guy in New Plymouth that specialises in natural therapy and ttc - doesn't do accupuncture though. Apparently lot of ladies have conceived. I just had to order a new microscope because I dropped the last one on the bathroom tiles Doh!

Yeah Milliemoo it is exciting to finally be moving forward with a plan. For me FA will monitor my cycle with blood tests and scans just to make sure they pinpoint ovulation and also to keep an eye of the number of eggs. Now that Im doing IUI it is even more monitored but with a straight forward clomid cycle usually they might monitor it to tell you exactly how many eggs and also when ovulations is about to happen

There's 5 tablets that you take in a cycle and you start on D3. Ovulation should occur 4-9 days after taking the last pill.
They don't keep you on it for very long. Max of 6 cycles I think. I have another serum progesterone on D21, so that should confirm if it's done the job.

I had an interesting acupuncture session today. She used moxa to warm up the points where the needles went in.
It was a lovely feeling. I nearly fell asleep! LOL

It's a type of chinese herb. Looks like a thick stick. She burns it and the heat is focused on the acupuncture points.
It feels kinda funny. Like a really warm pressure. Nice though.

I have moxa regularly when having accupunture- I hate that it stinks and makes u smell smoky tho! It was used on its own without the accupucture as part of treatment for my then 1 yr old to treat her eczema/reflux/unsettledness etc.
