My 5 month old DS has gone from a predictable 3 naps per day, self-settling, to not wanting a nap (screaming) at the normal times.
I don't like him screaming and so upset so I'll get him up and he'll either stay up til bedtime (solid routine) or fall asleep in car or while being fed - all bad things.
Is this a phase perhaps? I'm going a bit mental.

Caden went through a phase like that at around the same age, it didn't last too long. Even now though, he will have a tanty if he doesn't want to go down for a nap, or he will talk to himself in his cot for ages and not sleep and I end up getting him up again. I put him down at about 2.30 today and he is still awake and chatting to himself, so I figure, he is happy and resting so thats something I guess!
Maybe try just 2 naps a day, at that age Caden was more wakeful than sleepy, so he had and still has 2, 2-3 hour sleeps, and that keeps him happy as larry.

I know exactly what you mean!
My DS (who is 5.5 months old) has been fab at sleeping during the day - and then the last three days he seems to have decided that he doesnt need them! he had one sleep today for 2 hours (he fell asleep on my lap) - but i'm wondering if maybe he is having some teeth movement going on?
He was quite grizzly and just wasnt himself so i gave him some pamol and a rusk to have a little chew on and that's when he decided to have a bit of a sleep.
Anyway...am sending sympathy vibes your way - here's hoping both our DS's settle back into some kind of routine soon!
