I know the can of formula says D should be drinking about 600ml of formula a day. BUT, does it all need to be formula, or could half of it be water? Given that he eats pretty well, I wonder if it would be OK to give less formula?

I don't see why not. If you are mixing it up with good food and juice or water he should be fine. If he's having lots of wet nappies etc, that should be a good gauge for you.

You could always add some of the formula powder to some of the mushed food if you're worried about him missing out on nutirents from the milk too? And I'd be very suprised if Natalie makes it to 600mL a day!

I've you're happy that he's getting enough variety through food I would go with whatever suits. MOH guidelines are 700mls of fluid including what they get through food I think. We've really struggled to get Ollie to drink 'enough' on many days but I've found that if I just let him take what he wants (and hide a bit in food if I really think he needs it!) he seems to be fine. I'd just go by the wet nappy guide (assuming it's fluid rather than nutrient intake you are wanting to gauge).
