Hi,

DS hs been on solids for probably about a month and he just loves them.

He also seems to prefer his veg, which I guess is a good thing.

We have tried, swede, carrot, pumpkin, sweet potato, pear, mango, banana and apple and all the combos of that lot mixed together.

Since things are going well I am keen to introduce new vegetables but not sure which ones to go for, I have the plunket list but it seems to say most of the veg other than the ones I have tried are 7 months plus???

Oh and I have found out that baby rice clogs him up like mad so now avoiding it, when can I try him on something else for breakfast like porridge or something? I have looked in the supermarket but can only see rice as an option - can I make my own? Is it too soon.

Ordinary potato, peach (no skin), courgette, lentils, nashi pear, taro, yam, avacado, are all fine and listed as first foods in one of my plunket handouts.

fruit or toast are good for breakfast...

he wont mind if you dont give lots of different varieties of veges to him... just give him the stuff you woud normally eat. sounds like you have given lots of variety anyway.

I have the plunket list of what fruit and veg to give when, but I am stuck when it comes to other foods, like when is it ok to try him on rusks and other bits and pieces.

is there any good sites anyone can recommend?

Not sure if it'd be in your local library but Annabel Karmel's books have good ideas for first foods and different combinations.

You can get baby 'cereals' - like baby rice that aren't rice but I am having a complete blank as to what they are sorry!

Just googled Annabel Karmel and her site has a few recipes, maybe worth a look?

veges, I did whenever I wanted. Still haven't done tomatoes cos of reflux.

The Alison Holst book is quite good - sorry, can't think of sites.

Rusks are fine.

Do you give the baby rice with pureed fruit (Daniel has 11/2T rice, 1 1/2T puree fruit)? Also you could try the older age muesli as that has less iron

Ok tried rusks and what a hit, not sure he's keen on the taste but he is really teething and he just loved chewing it.

Ok so maybe i'll try some museli

i shall google the names suggested too - thanks heaps.
