I have always thought that an element of Jackson's feeding upset is due to a sore gut that accumulates during the day. His morning feeds are always MUCH better than his evening feeds.
Tonight I fed him and he got upset as usual at about 120ml. So after winding I wrapped him and lay him in bed but then offered him the bottle. And he drank another 60ml. It seems that lying flat was soothing and enabled him to drink more.
We wind Jackson for ages after a feed, and we always get a lot of burps during the day, but when Jackson has had wind episodes, it is usually relieved when he does some farts (as opposed to burps). His tummy looks a little bloated at the end of the day.
Anyone have any ideas on how to help? If it is an element of wind that is only relieved by farts, is there any way to get these moving? We use Infacol before his feeds (and have tried NOT using it as some people have said it doesn't agree with their babies). It just seems that he gets a sore tummy, and if there is anything I can do to help I would, because then hopefully he will consume a bit more milk.
Thanks!

Infacol always worked well for Caden, we put it into his bottle this seemed to work better than giving it before a feed.
We didnt have any problems with wind from 4 months old so Im not sure if this will work for jackson now with him being 5 1/2 months, but have you tried laying him on his tummy after a feed, or on his back and pushing his legs up to his tummy then back down for a while? that always got cadens farts out, now days he farts all the time, cos he is so active, so we dont need to do anything about his wind.
You could also try a hot water bottle on his tummy! This helps me when i have bad wind, which I get during pregnancy it always helps me get my wind *out* lol, or, offer him a bit of warm water(quite warm) as warm water helps get wind out, this is what they told me to do at the hospital after my caeser to help me pass wind.

Some literature says wind issues settle by 6 months .. if that's any help.
What formula are you giving him - or is it EBM?
My DD2 has a dairy intolerance - so I have cut it out of my diet as much as possible (I am b/feeding) and it has completely stopped her wind issues inc spilling, explosive #2's etc. I'm quite amazed actually. Maybe there is something not agreeing with him in the milk?? Just a thought.
All the best.

Hmmm, might try the warm water trick, that's a good idea. I can't put him on his tummy because of the reflux, he just starts spewing.
He's now on Karicare formula. We've had a few changes. The dietician has asked us to use Karicare as it has a higher calorie count and we have got weight-gain issues due to not consuming enough calories. But, haven't noticed a difference on any of the formulas, including Neocate which should have ruled out any intolerances etc.
I know some people have said that the Karicare is more bubbly. I might try puttin the Infacol in the bottle and making up the formula in advance.
Anyone ever tried probiotics?

My trick for wind is after solids give my daughter a bottle of 60ml warm water, spiked with the correct dose of gripe water (couldn't get her to take gripe water on it's own she didn't seem to like it). I just give it to her to hold / play with, if it take her an hour to drink half thats cool. Seems to do the trick.

Laurie I know this sounds horrible but bicycle his legs and push them up onto his belly (there is a vid on you tube but I can't find it) . I have done and still do this on occasion with Alex when I know he has farts that are causing trouble. Massaging the belly helps too and a nice warm bath (I think cos of the kicking factor in bath) even just having some no nappy and kick on floor used to help Alex. Sorry if this is all muddled someone is teething and so I'm wasted.

Bicycle legs definately work! And its not mean, Isobelle loves it and always ends up laughing and giggling. It can make them spew though Laurie but not as much as tummy time. Warm water is good but mostly for burps once the wind is in their intestine it basically has to make its way out on its own
My doctor suggested bringing Isobelle off the bottle and burping her every minute or two, it helped her wind but made her drop her milk consumption.

You could try putting him on his tummy. This helps to relieve wind
