is 30 weeks too early to pack my hospital bag? i go back to uni next week so was going to do everything but i feel really silly doing it 10 weeks early. did you guys have anything in your hospital bag you found really helpful that wasnt on the generic 'hospital bag' checklist? and what did you take for food / snacks. im planning on coming home strait away as long as there are no complications so should i do a labour/birth bag and then have a back up extended stay bag to leave in the car so i dont have to take a massive bag to the hospital or should i just chuck it all together and take the whole thing even though hopefully i wont need it?

30 wks isn't too early.  As long as you have spare stuff.  Don't forget to put your LMC booklet with your bag so the midwife can write in it at the hospital.

During labour I had water with rescue remedy & lucozade.  I'd also packed bee balls (which are manuka honey lollies - I can't have barley sugars) but I didn't feel like eating anything, so having a couple of lucozades for energy was great.

I had 2 bags too, one for labour and one for the hospital stay.  Don't forget to pack a change of clothes for you & DH and an outfit for the baby in the labour bag so noone needs to run out to the car to get them.

I had most of my bag packed then but with a note inside of the couple of items that needed to be put in there, that way DH could do it if required. I just had the one bag with only one change of clothes for me, I used hospital gowns while in hospital to avoid having to take extra clothes and make extra washing for me. I had a couple of brunch bars for DH and some lollies for me

I had all the standard stuff, plus a few make-up basics and a perfume (made me feel better when the visitors started arriving). I also packed rescue remedy Pastilles which were really good to suck on, and had DH bring me fruit juice afterwards (to help things start moving). If you have to take something with you if you were going away on holiday, put it in the hospital bag.

Trilogy everything balm was awesome on me and on bubs lol. I used it for dry lips.

Its never to early to pack - and you can always add to it. Least you know you will def. be ready when the time comes :)

Do you have a book that your midwife or ob writes your notes in?  That's what I mean.

oooh I Trilogy Everything Balm!
I second that suggestion!

30 weeks isn't too early - you can never be too prepared for baby's arrival

I took 5 pair of knickers (used them all in a 24 hour period! ) and a change of clothes and a nightie (button-down for easy access).

Food-wise - barley sugars, museli bars, V for DH and Lucozade for me. Oh, and chocolate

Its never too early. I pack my bag when I get the urge to and my babies arrived within a week of that feeling. So if its on your mind I suggest doing it.
Even though you are planning to go home pack everything that is suggested as you never know how things will go and you don't want to get caught out. Take heaps of knickers, and a couple of pairs of pjs in case you bleed heaps, and moisturiser and lip balm. I also took hair product (I look like a yeti without it ) and mascara which made me feel a little better. I'd also suggest taking a few more baby outfits than you think you'll need. Especially if you are having a boy, I got caught out a few times during nappy changes with Dominic and Isobelle just puked on everything (still does!).

A comb, at least half a dozen knickers (yes you will probably go through them in a day), a pen - and a journal if you're that kind of person, your camera. For snacks, last time I had muffin bake bars to give me a sugary lift when I needed more energy. Don't know what I'll do this time. Probably a pack of biscuits and a pack of crackers (I am gluten intolerant so if I get hungry, I won't be able to have the standard toast etc). Ooo and I'm not into tea/coffee so I might pack some hot chocolate powder too. (Can't have milo either and can't remember what they have available at the hospital these days).
