I got the blackmores preganncy and breastfeeding gold supplement as i wanted the omega 3 and other stuff in it. It only has 0.25mg of folic in it tho. Previously i had been taking just the apo folic of 0.8mg. So my question is should i take the supplement and also an apo folic acid tablet as well? that would mean is was taking 1.1mg of folic acid - is that too much??? is there such a thing as too much?

If I was you I'd take both - it's still a safe dose. And I'm still takng the blackmores preg and BFing gold now (after birth I had to take a prescribed iron supplement as well because I was badly anaemic (sp). The Blackmores has nice safe doses of everything, and you'll only be prescribed the folic acid for the 1st trimester I think (?) as that's when its most important.

I took both - I was taking mulitvit and folic acid before getting pregnant; then switched to the blackmores and continued with folic acid until 13 weeks. According to my dr it is impossible to overdose on folic acid, so better to take a bit more than recommended dose rather than not enough.

Take both -- you will pee out any extra folic acid so it is fine to take extra. I had to take 6x the normal dose this time due to a previous birth defect - its completely safe. (I'm a food tech/nutritionist and used to develop these sorts of things).
