After him making comments for the last week about "it could happen ANY TIME, you know!!!", DH has to go away for business this weekend. He'll be 7 hours away from Friday night through to Monday night.
I KNOW in my head that Squishy is unlikely to make an appearance this weekend, but there's very little chance if anything DID happen that he would be able to make it back in time. So I'm a little nervous! I've been having some really strong cramps, although I think most of those are my IBS playing up, but also a little brown spotting (no show or anything, bubs is just bouncing on my cervix).
I have the option of going as well, but I'm not sure I could handle the drive (let alone the MIL at the other end). Also, if baby DOES come this weekend, while we're in Palmy, how would we get her back to AKL? The work van can't have a carseat in it or anything...
I'm probably overthinking everything, but I'm not sure what to do. I don't have anyone else in AKL to be with me if DH isn't here, and I'm really afraid of being on my own.
I guess I'm wondering what anyone else would do?

I've told dh to go away this weekend in the hopes that it'll make this baby move! Lol.
Sorry, not very helpful
Really, I wouldn't be very happy about it - does he really HAVE to go? Dh was requested to go away for work a few weeks ago but told them no and they were ok to put it off. If he has to go I would stay home if I were you and cross my legs. At least if something does happen you'll be in a familiar place with your midwife that you know, and dh might make it back in time - isn't the average first labour 12 hours or something? (and do you want to be in labour at your MIL's house? I know I wouldn't!)

Does he HAVE to go? Maybe he could delay it by a couple of months?
If he has to go, could it be on condition that he returns immediately if you request it? It is only an hour flight from Palmy to Auckland but I guess the flights aren't all that frequent.
Can you get someone else to come up and stay with you for the weekend? That way you have someone there, just in case?
Or, you could just flat out say he can't go. Pregnant ladies are allowed to do that, you know

Cathrine, if he has to go away for work that's ok, 7 hours is a doable return, if you start feeling anything that you think could be labour or you get your show etc then you just call him and have him jump in the car and get back here, or ditch the car and get fly back if he can. Your in-laws can always drive the car home later.
I wouldn't leave you home in case you do go into labour because you do have your midwife here etc. Do you have any family or friends who could come and stay with you? Even the teenage daughter of a friend to keep you company?
Beside all of that, you will be 37 weeks this weekend, most likely you will not go into labour while he's away or for another few weeks yet.

Thanks guys. There really is no way he can delay going, part of the running your own business problem I guess. I think I'll wait it out here, and try and get him to go a day later instead, so he's away for less time. I know I most likely won't go into labour, but you know, the "what if's" come a-knocking and just about do your head in!
I'll be crossing my legs real tight

Just take it really, really easy this weekend (get a few movies and bags of chips hehe) and you should be fine. If not, I'll come visit you at PN hospital!!
