Just a quick question - I had a blood test at 3.30pm yesterday and gp said to have another one tomorrow (for the 48hr thing). Do I have to have it around the same time or would it be ok to have it in the morning? Thanks.

It's better to go around the same time, as then it's closest to 48 hours (which should be fairly close to the doubling time). My specialist told me I had to make sure I went about the same time, and especially not to go for one in the afternoon and the next in the morning, as it doesn't give a true sense of the results as it's not 48 hours so can cause unnecessary worry if it hasn't yet doubled.

Cool, thanks. I thought that would be the answer but cos I'm impatient, I don't like the idea of having to wait another whole night to get the results lol!

Congrats!
I never did mine around the same time. I just used a calculator online to work out if it had a good doubling time

Ditto what Kate said - otherwise you get a mixed result - much better to wait until as close to the 48 hours as poss.

Hehe I know what you mean - I did mine at 12pm and it did my head in!! Thankfully for the second one the results came back in less than 2 hours (I gave the nurses at Medlab a bit of a sob story so they did it urgently for me ) so I got it back the same day anyway.

I always went for mine first thing in the morning, I never thought about timing lol, just went and did it before it got busy lol

I didn't see my gp until yesterday afternoon and she sent me for the bloods. Levels came back at 50 today. Not quite sure what to think just yet so will wait for tomorrows results.

How many weeks / days are you? 50 sounds OK to me - the number itself is not necessarily that relevant, it's whether it goes up appropriately that is the main thing.
My levels were really low to begin with, but bub is definitely happy & healthy in there.
I am sure your next result will be just fine

Lots of red blood and mild cramps this morning. Should I still go for the blood test? Or maybe just ring my gp...

Thanks guys. Louise, I'm 4w3d. Have been to the doc this morning. Pretty sure its a mc with the amount of bleeding, passing small clots and bit of period type pain. I'm booked in for a scan tomorrow. She said not to worry about having the blood test.
