TMI question about bleeding.   I was told it should get less and less and change from bright red to brown to yellow/clear.  Mine has stepped up a notch the last couple of days and gone from nothing at all except after a feed to bright red again and leaking out more than just after feeding.   I feel ok but we did have concerns as I thought I had a UTI a week ago as I was sore "down there" and felt like crap.  but my urine test came back completely clear.  My MW also did a vaginal swab but that came back inconclusive...something was growing but they didnt know what and all my symptoms have cleared.   She was concerned as my discharge notes said I had ragged membranes (first Ihad heard of this as my birth notes say complete placenta).  so she is on the look out for retained membranes etc and inc in bleedng is a sign.  Anyone shed any light on this???

Um after my C Section I bled for 6 weeks, and it would tapper off and go light and almost go away then I would have a red bleed again and I passed a few clots. But by 6 weeks It was pretty much finished, just some icky yellow discharge for a while.

My MW said that after a C Section this can happen and bleeing can be quite random, epecially if you do too much, i found if I tried to do housework or something I would bleed red again for a while.

Yeah mine would go away then come back worse than ever then go away again. Did it for 6weeks.
I also had ragged membranes but it all passed eventually and fine.,

I found the same thing it would almost stop completely then start again a week later. My uterus took 8 or so weeks to contract fully so there was still sporadic bleeds.

Oh, so you think maybe going for an hour long walk yesterday, getting no rest due to a toddler refusing his sleep and dealing with said tired toddler at a 2yr olds party after 4 hours sleep the night before might be "overdoing it"

Duely noted and I will behave myself over the next few days

But I will run it past my MW tomorrow. (since I am behaving)

The other thing is that breastfeeding causes contractions but you definately want to take it easy too. Congratulations on #2!

Feeding baby is the most common way of stepping up the bleeding to clean out. It's a pain because if you think you're done bleeding and then go to feed, all of a sudden you feel it start up but you've just latched the baby on!! Anyway, any kind of light walking for the first 8 weeks is enough to start it up even if you have had 48 hours clear. It's a good thing to clean out naturally but take it easy, all the same
