Hi.
For years I've been in the habit of having my bikiniline waxed, and I've had 3 waxes during this pregnancy. (However the last one is a wee while ago.) I always assumed I'd have one towards the end of my pg as well, but now I'm not too sure anymore. For weeks I've had a nasty heat rash in my groin area (sorry TMI), that has finally cleared up, and I wonder if a wax would be good or bad at this time. Also the whole area down there seems swollen (I'm sure it didn't used to be like this) and I wonder if waxing will therefore be a lot more painful. Anyway, just wondering if any of you ladies out there have any experience with bikiniwaxes in the last weeks of pregnancy and would you recommend it or not? |

I had my first ever wax 2 weeks ago at 33 weeks and have another one scheduled for a fortnight at 37 weeks. I had no problems at all other than being absolutely petrified!! -------------

I am a bit worried about the heat rash too, I dont think I will have it done if there is a rash.... might resort to a cream for the big day to tidy myself up a bit. If I can reach of coure LOL -------------

| It's not so much for the "big day", it's actually more for afterwards. You're not to use tampons for the bleeding after birth, just those lovely big pads, so it's kind of messy IYKWIM. |

I found I had horrible reactions to my waxing in the last trimester of my pregnancy, but I have really sensitive skin and I think the combination of that coupled with the increased blood flow and body/outside temperature probably was the problem so I think you'll be fine. i braz for my wedding and kept it up through my first and im still having it done.........yes you are diffently way more sensitive and yes you are swollen..........i had big rush a few months ago but its disappeared.........my first preg i found it sweet but after cause i had emergency c then im still really sensitive over the scar......... they can use 2 different methods one is less painful then the other but the other is faster........ask them to try different types......... as for after that can be a prob but id depends if you have stitches or not too my therpist is awesome and i was altra nervous but she said that if i felt comfortable enough i can use a tampon and she can still do it TMI also after each time i go she puts alo cream on then you dont bathe till the next day that night ill put ice over my pants (so it dont look weird haha) seems to do the trick :) ------------- http://lilypie.com">  http://lilypie.com">

I usually like to wax myself to save $$ but it's getting so hard. So I went for a few months not doing it but the other week I couldn't put up with it any more so I gave myself a brazillian. God it took me ages to do, I can't see anything over my belly these days so had to try and apply the wax and remove it using a propped up mirror for help! I didn't seem any more sensitive than other times but I did a terrible job of it and there are patches not quite reached.
I think I'll have to pay the $$ and get it done professionally before the 'big day'. I hope the waxer doesn't mind doing pregnant women, I wouldn't fancy the job myself. I too am thinking mainly of after the birth, because of cleanliness of bleeding and I think it might be easier if I need stitches too. -------------

If you have heat rash then I wouldn't have waxing done as it could be very painful and possibly make the rash worse. I ended up having my last waxing about a week before Jack was born (he was 8days early) and it was fine.
I am having a normal bikini wax done through this pg, definately not a brazillian. SIL told me about a bikini trimmer (I think thats what they call them) which is a bit smaller than a man's electric razor. They are $30 at Farmers and I plan to trim the areas not included in the bikini wax just before this baby is due. Apparently it has a safety guard on it so it won't cut you ------------- Lindsey

Yeah SIL has a trimmer and says it is great. I plan to use it between the legs as DH complained at Jack's birth and said that I should have got a brazillian. Not sure if I will be able to reach or see by that stage though! ------------- Lindsey

I've always been a fan of waxing but during pregnancy let myself go. However I didn't really want my new 70's bush making a public debut so went and got a brazillian a week before my c-section. It was quite odd being 36 weeks pregnant with twins getting waxed with my HUGE belly! But I was told with a c-section the nurse shaves you and I didn't want some amature doing a hack job at my most private of areas so took matters into my own.... well a professionals hands.
Was sooo glad I did! Was please not to have to worry about regrowth near the c-section wound for the first few weeks  -------------

I got waxed right throughout my pregnancy and had no issues. I would get that heat rash cleard first thou. ------------- I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived! |

Bugger waxing!!!! OUCH!
Waxing at the best of times sends me through the roof!- I think itd put me into labour!! not to mention the pain of ingrown hairs- I take my hat off to you gals giving yourselves a Brazilian too- wow! I am such a woossy lol!!!! I use a trimmer..... Get DH to do it too- then he'll know what it feels like lol- now that would be worth it. Its funny- I am blessed (or cursed) in the area of hair growth ussually- but I found that my leg hair has basically stopped in the last 15 weeks... its great. -------------

if yu exfoliate in grown hair isnt an issue.........unfortanlty for me its still a major but not painful :) i did wax my hubby did one strip and he ran around screaming.............i was laughing so hard nearly peed me pants..............was well worth it now he doesnt complain about me spending $35 each month haha ------------- http://lilypie.com"> http://lilypie.com">

Ooh does anyone know if it's safe to use hair removal cream? I used to use that but haven't since I've been preg as I wasn't sure what was in it. I am planing to have it done, as when I do it myself it takes longer and I am in pain more. My only problem is finding a propper place where they can do in/out everywhere(sorry TMI). It is what I used to get done before, but here I am actually way too shy to ask the receptionist if they are doing a total clean up ???

Well, I had my wax yesterday. It wasn't that painful at all, and I feel much better for it. Just like I'm slightly human again.
Unfortunately it did not bring on labour. Bummer. |

I have been waxing for a few years and have been doing my own brazi for a couple of those, i'm a beauty therapist and find it less painful! My hair growth slowed during pregnancy, but I went to a friend to have it done at about 38wks. I wanted the hairs to have grown a mm or two past the skin by the time baby came, in case of irritation or stitches(last thing you want to worry about when the rest of that area is already sore after baby lol). Also not a fan of hair down there during AF so made things easier during the first couple of weeks post birth. ------------- http://lilypie.com">

After ending up with an emergency C-section and getting shaved....but not enough....and having my dressing ripped off (ouch) and then having to shave the area myself to put the new dressing on, I would recommend waxing first....LOL!!
It was the scariest thing, trying to shave around the scar when the area is numb |
