We have been trying to use the Ecobubs wool pocket nappy but find it leaks as soon as it is put on. Has anyone else found it so? Is there a trick to the insert or does it need an outer cover? The manufacturer site says it needs no cover but Ben is soaked through within an hour of it being put on.

Hi middlelee! There are a few threads in the cloth nappy section of this forum that may be able to help you: http://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/search.asp?KW=leak&SM=1&SI=TC&FM=17&OB=1&Submit=Start+Search - search results
Does it fit well around the legs? Where is it soaking through? Is it a new nappy? If it's a second hand one it may need re lanolising for waterproofness...

Thanks for the reply It's a new nappy. The leaks seem to be coming through the top ie adjacent to the fastenings, rather than the legs which are quite fitting. I have been folding the insert in half, as it is rather wide - came with the nappy. I guess I could try to stuff it without folding??

Hi middlelee, sorry I never saw your reply. Hope you've sorted it out by now, but just wanted to say if it's a microfibre insert it could be compression wicking (ie the moisture gets squeezed out of the microfibre - it can act like a sponge and if it's too squished the moisture will come out as fast as it goes in)

Hi there!
Also the Ecobubs that I got not that long ago came only with a microfibre insert - it is possible that you need to add a hemp booster to the nappy - my boy would never have lasted much more than an hour with just MF.

Wow your boy must be a big wetter. We have never had a problem with our ecobubs wool nappies...well sometimes there is a wee wick but it is after 3-4 hrs and after a nap AND she is a tummy sleeper.
Remember if you add a booster to have it situated at the front of the nap, a little more work when the opening is at the front. Also make sure that none of the microfiber is poking out the top of the nap
