OB has a "Ultimate Hospital Bag Checklist" if you want to have a look - I think it was built off the opinions of message board members, but I'm not sure

Thanks for that link, i still havent packed for me yet (am waiting until if/when labour starts so i have something to do).

Do most hospital supply maternity pads, nappies, wipes etc? I better check with the MW because i was planning on using all the hospitals stuff

One thing my MW has told me not to forget is the book that i take to all my MW visits that she fills out

Check with your hospital, Waitakere provides all maternity pads, nappies and wipes

Mittens and booties/socks and a hat. Hosp will provide little gowns for them.

Don't forget lollies and drinks/snacks for you and DH. A change of clothes and undies for you too.

Pen and paper is great, especially if you are the journalling type like me or want to pick up some crossword magazines. You may well need 3pr of undies per day. Ask your GP what is provided at the hospital because in PN all the baby clothes, wipes, nappies, gowns for you and maternity pads are provided free of charge. All body/hair wash was there too. Water is available on tap, as is toast.

I also like to pack snacks for after the birth as bf makes a mum hungry! And I often forget comb/toothbrush stuff.

Ohh LOTS of old granny panties! I also brought a few packs of libra maternity pads, as the hospital ones were horrid, however for the first day I used hospital ones as I couldnt move cos I was still kinda numb from my epi and wasnt very mobile from the c section so the nurses would just change my pad for me.

Ummm, comfy pj's, and bring a few pairs in case you leak onto them.

Some snacks for you and DH, hospital food sucks

tooth brush, hair brush etc

for Caden i brought(keeping in mind it was winter)

a few stretch n grows
mittens and botties and little socks
beanies
oh and some onsies
wipes and I had some nappies too

the hospital provided nappies, so we used theirs

In the hosp im delivering at they only supply towels, sheets and pillow cases and one packet of maternity pads. Nothing for baby, not even nappies.

Thanks for that link to the list of things. I thought i had most things sorted but after reading that list im nowhere near ready haha.

The other thing I have is a list of stuff that I can't /won't pack until the last minute like shampoo, conditioner, face wash, my cell phone, diary with a phone list, the camera etc etc because I'm guessing that when labour starts (if it does by itself!) I won't be thinking in a straight line

The OB list is pretty good.
I was only at birthcare for 4hrs following my birth, so my bags and all the stuff I packed were virtually untouched!
Might pay to check whether the hospital provides the container for the placenta if you plan on bringing it home, and make sure you have a really good hairtie lol mine was crappo and my hair kept falling out.

ETA I was terribly uncomfortable in the bed ~ I had one piddly pillow which didn't support me at all when I needed to sit up or feed, and wished I had enough energy to get up and grab the one out of my bag lol so you might like to bring one from home
