Does anyone know what the best brand is on bottles, pacifiers, breast pumps, diaper disposals, etc.? Aventi, Tommee Tippee, Nuk or...?

Still to find that out myself but there is alot of good feed back on Avent products. Can't say many people have had anything good to say about nappy disposal units. I didn't bother.

nappy disposal unit? seriously dont bother! a bin with a tight flip top lid is just as good, half the price, easier to empty and cheaper to re-line!

We found that our baby really like the Avent bottles. The only catch is that they are wider so you HAVE to use the avent teats on them.

Breast pump wise, how much do you think you'll use it? If its just for comfort when youre engorged or for the odd occassion they get a maual one as they are HEAPS cheaper. But if you'll use it a fair bit (eg you plan to pump while you're at work) then get an electric one. I found it best to leave buying a breast pump until I tried out breast-feeding itself and whether it was gonna work. Because you cant return breastpumps due to hygiene reasons. And even with the best intentions, BFIng doesnt always work.

Welcome to ohbaby

My boy prefers avent dummies (pacifiers... guessing you're from the states?), and varies between avent and tommee tippee closer to nature bottles. I used tommee tippee bottles (the wide necked ones) to begin with, cos I was breastfeeding and they're supposed to be closest to the shape of the breast.

I have an electric avent breast pump and love it.

Plunket sell special teats (can anyone remember the name?) for $10 each. They're supposed to be the best.

the plunket teats are called chu chu teats, and are supposedly better for breastfed babies - i.e. the teat acts more like the real thing. having bought many many different types of bottles etc, sometimes it comes down to how fussy your baby is! (Natalie still won't take any kind of bottle or teat ). I would wait until the baby arrives in any case. it is good to have the same brand of pump as bottles though, so you don't have to worry about mixing & matching!

I use Avent, but like Blondy said, I wouldn't get too much till the baby arrives, cos they're weird fussy little creatures

Can't comment on dummies as we aren't using any, but we have Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature bottles and breastpump. The pump is manual and I find it really easy to use and it only has 3 parts to clean and sterilise.
