Ava is strange LOL. She is just over 4 months old and weighs 5.8kg (so she is quite little). I feed her every 4 hours now and she never has the suggested intake amount of formula.

Lately she has been drinking approx 150mls of formula then 45mins later she will drink another 50-80mls. Why would this be? Is 4 hours too long for her to go between feedings and that is what she is trying to tell me? On 3 hourly feedings she would drink 150mls approx at a time as well. Im confused!!!

My boy is more than 6 months and I still can't get him to space out the feeds to 4 hours (despite what Save Our Sleep says - I was trying to work towards that routine but never got there). I basically demand feed and he still wants feeding 3 hourly. I'd guess Ava wants feeding a bit more often too - maybe work towards the 4 hourly thing slowly (eg 3 hours one day, 3 hours 10 mins the next etc) if you want to do the SOS thing

Is the suggested formula intake based on her age or her weight? If it's age based and Ava is small for her age (?), perhaps it's just too much for her wee tummy in one go?

the suggested formula intake is based on the calculation 150mls for every kg of body weight divided by the number of feeds daily.

I thought that calculation was for breastfed babies?

I never realised it was for formula as well!
