OK, I know what BH feel like, and usually they are pretty sporadic, but today, I have been getting BH almost every 5 minutes and its getting bloody annoying!

Just now I went for a walk (lasted about 30 mins) and I had no less than 12 BH contractions ! They only last like 20-30 secs but I have to say they are quite uncomfortable (not painful) but uncomfortable enough for me to slow down when I get one...

Is this normal or is it that irritable uterus thing you can get?? And either way, do they actually do anything or are they more of just a nuisance? Ooohhh, here comes another one ...

Maybe you should ring your MW?

I had that and had to stay overnight for monitoring, and I was about a week further along than you. Was told there was a high chance of it turning into full labour during the night (but it didn't)

Perhaps you should give your mw a call just to be sure.

I had two really sharp pains in the afternoon with Cooper about 45mins apart and they progressed onto proper contractions.

They aren't getting worse though, but also, they aren't going away. I just tried lying down for half an hour and they will still coming...I think I'll see how they progress. I'm pretty sure they will die down by tonight.

Try a warm bath. They sound like BH to me but if you don't want your baby #2 to arrive soon, you should take things a little easy and put your feet up a bit.

Oooohhh....Shell - so it could be the onset of labour? Exciting. Quite early though.

And remember, Ang is supposed to be the next Feb mum

I remember being told that if they went away when you rested or stopped resting they were BH but if they continued they were labour. But then I was in denial for the first 6 hours of strong labour so not a reliable source at all

Yeah I heard that aswell, if you rest and drink lots of water and they go away then its BH, but if the keep going it could be pre labour or early labour.

Id definitly ring your MW, they may want to moniter you for an hour or so to see what activity is going on in there.

But eeek, I hope bubs cooks for a few weeks longer yet!

Ooh, let us know how it goes Shell, you may be our next feb mum .

And yes, i dont know much about BH but if they are that close and that many i would think its possibly more actual labour.

I rang my MW, she ordered me to take some panadol and have a warm bath to see if that settles things. She doesn't think its anything as I've been having them all afternoon without any change in intensity. She thinks something may have just 'irritated' my uterus??

I'd go to bed but I'm not even tired...

Don't worry - I'm pretty sure I'd be the last person to queue jump around here with my track record...

MW is still not convinced its anything. Went walking around the mall this morning which really set things off again, but more intense than yesterday. I rang MW to let her know, who told me to lie down and see what happens. Well, was down for an hour and they DID slow down (but didn't stop completely) and now that I'm up they've started back up again . However, the trick is, they don't seem to be getting any worse...just coming and going very rhythmically.

MW is ringing me back in an hour and will decide then whether its worth me going to hosp for monitoring...She said I'm far enough along now that if it was labour, they would let it progress, so I'm in 2 minds about what outcome I want

How exciting Shell, although scary too as that will start a whole chain of events wont it.  So much easier for you to care for him on the inside.

Fingers crossed it works out (whichever way that is)....just dont go overdue little man.....your mummy would be so unimpressed

WOW.
Good Luck, please keep the site posted.

If labour is around the corner, all the best, if it is BH please make them stop.

Ooh Shell keep us updated! Sounds kind of weird how they keep going but not getting worse...hopefully they either progress to something or go away soon! I guess you want to keep him in for a couple more weeks though huh.
