Hiya,

I'd really like to hear from anyone that's had positive/negative experiences with IUD's.

Thinking about what to do after bubs us born as we can't afford a second baby as yet. Really don't want to go back on the pill if I can help it but I don't know anything about IUD's.

I have one. Apart from heavier periods, they seem very good. I have a standard one, not a Mirena (as they gave me headaches).

Are heavier periods standard with IUD's?

Yep, they can be and I have found that mine definitely are. But other than that, I have found it very reliable and a great peace of mind. I will get another after number 2.

I have a mirena and love it, had no problems and love how I don't need to 'do' anything. Will most likely get another after this one runs out.

Thanks for that. I've just always thought they were a little invasive but I really don't want to go back on the pill. I was on a 3rd gen pill too as it was one of the few that worked for me.

Can you still have an IUD if you have cervical issues E.g. Colposcopy and Lletz procedures?

Danaj - I posted in your other thread - but I loved my IUD. I had the non-hormonal one and my periods were actually shorter and lighter than normal. I think it can go either way.

Sorry -can't help you with the cervical issues question. The string can irritate your cervix so you would have to find out if that would cause any issues.
