Hi, just wondering if anyone has or has had this, and what did you do to relieve the pain?

My mw said she could refer me to a physiotherapist. just wondering if that will help. (As I'm still working it means I have to take more time of work to see a physio, and I don't want to do that if it's not useful).

Any input is appreciated.

Hi, I had this with my first pregnancy and saw a physio and it helped immensely (obviously you have to put in the time to do the exercises they show you though). I found mine manageable with the tips and exercises but had it got worse I could have been given a belt to help support the area.

Hi Ella

I have sciatica this time.  My MW is referring me to a physio in the new year so I'm hoping it helps.  At the moment it's so sore I have a limp.

I have a little massaging cushion (called the magic bean) and that's lovely to sit on when the pain gets overwhelming.  I also use a wheat bag which helps and I'm considering getting a donut cushion for work (since I find it's worse when I've been at work all day so I think my office chair isn't helping).

I had this, really bad in my last 2 weeks when i was over due it got to the point where i coulnt even walk very far.. It sucked so badly and I found nothing I did helped because it was Caden pushing down on my pelvis and he was well and trully engaged and wasnt going anywhere, no physio or anythign helped. The only thing that gave me some relief was a heat pack.
I also did exercises, like getting on m hands and knees and sticking my bum in the air, and that helped the pain a bit.

I made fantastic use of my wheat bag. Plus DH was on back rub duty EVERY night lol! My number one pain relief came from a nice hot bath though.
Also towards the end I really got into aqua jogging which is a great way to exercise while preggers. Great on the joints and you can jump in the spa afterwards for a bit of relief

Physio should definatley help, you will have to pay privately though so ask them to show you what DH can do at home. It will probably be a combo of stretches and massage.

You can also self refer, just ring a local clinic to make an appointment. Should only take 30 mins

I never paid for my physio, the mw referred me and it was all free. I saw the physio probably about 5-6 times over 2-3 weeks.

I'd definitely go to a physio or osteopath if you can, they can give you some exercises to do at home to help the sciatica go away. Good luck, it's not nice even when you're not heavily pregnant!
