What do you wash your nappies with?
I've been washing them in Liquid eco but they seem to need stripping after only a few month use so am wondering what other people are using. ------------- http://lilypie.com">

I use Eco Store powder every wash and Dettol in the rinse once a week. The only times I've stripped Leo's nappies was when he had a bacterial infection and then before selling.

So is the make up of the eco store powder different to that of the liquid. I've always prefered to wash with a liquid but it looks like I might have to switch to the powder. ------------- http://lilypie.com">

The powder shouldn't make any difference I wouldn't have thought. Why don't you try adding a wee bit more to your wash. Are you washing in cold?
I always found with cold washes the nappies seemed to need stripping more, so I always washed on a 60-70 degree heat. Others use the Canesten or Dettol rinse in the wash and swear by it as well. I just use our regular washing powder (currently persil sensitive) on a cold cycle. About once a month I put them through a hot cycle if they get a bit smelly.
We just got a new washing machine with a sanitation setting and I haven't had a smelly nappy since using this cycle. ------------- http://lilypie.com">

Would lux flakes be bad to use for washing mcn's? Neither mcn's or ecostore powder were really around last time I had a baby! -------------

I just use persil sensitive and dettol wash in every load and wash in cold water and dry in the sun, we have no drier. I wash all the kids clothes and nappies together. -------------

I've just switched to using the Ecostore powder (it's great & a box lasts such a long time). How much do you put in with a load of nappies? I realise it's quite concentrated compared to other brands... I've been using literally half a teaspoon for a wash with 5 nappies & inserts - sound ok? -------------

It depends on how full my load is. If I have a full load then I use one scoop, if half a load I use half a scoop, if I'm only washing a couple of nappies (like I do now that Leo is day trained) then I just give the nappies a cold rinse first and then put them in the wash with kids clothes so that I do a full load at once. When Leo was in nappies full time I think about 5-6 nappies would be a half load - so half a scoop of powder. -------------
