i took noah over when he was 4 months. we just rung up and made sure they booked us up the frount where the bassinets are and feed on take off and landing. we took a stroller for around airport but was waste because they have there own at the airport and you have to check stroller in. i thought it was reasnably easy with a younger baby.
ETA: they also have these belts that go around your belt and them and you hold them on take off and landing |

I took rhylz to Uk and usa when he was 4 months and 6 months - they have bassinettes for them to go in - cause your baby wll be under 8 months you can prebook a bulk head seat in advance - they have the bassinettes on them.
What do you want to know? Looking above--- You have a seat belt attatchment that goes thru yours for take off and landing and terbulence that goes round baby. Bassinette if you want - which i found even when rhylz was awake it was good for him to play in. Advice - Relax! Milk having a baby for what its worth - goign on plane first - que jumping etc.... ------------- http://lilypie.com">

We did aussie a couple of times with a 15 week old and its easy.
Feed on take off and landing - helps with ears. Basinet is good but takes up alot of your room so make sure you get yourself well organised when you get on as there is not a huge amount of room to move once its down. We front packed (or slinged) in the airport etc as heaps easier and could then just check the push chair thru and one less thing to worry about. and gives you your hands free. Depending on what "mood" your bub is in, it may be wiser to board last rather than first as then it less time with a screaming baby while people a walking on the plane (giving you those looks  "

I only flew Chch return so no bassinet, but my sling was so helpful as you spend lots of time waiting and it takes the pressure off your back. I agree that age is easy (Daniel was 7 weeks). ------------- Mum to two wee boys |

We flew to Aussie a few weeks back, when Clara was about 3 months old.
I second what has been said re: frontpack/sling, especially for when you land and have to queue at customs (on our flights they put the babies down the back - great, no dirty looks - but you're the last off the plane and have a long wait at customs). If she'll take a dummy, pack one, as I found it a bit hard to time feeds for take off and delivery (we had delays too). So I just kept the dummy in. The plane was fairly small, so no bulkheads for bassinets, but it was only a 4hr flight and she was fine just sleeping on us. It was much easier than I thought - the only problems we had were that both times she had meltdowns about an hour after landing - her ears perhaps? So yeah just try to make sure her jaw is moving during take off and landing. |

I also have a vague memory that ears are more of a problem as the plane starts to descend, not just on actual landing, so the dummy might be a good idea to get through that period. ------------- Mum to two wee boys |

Yay, I'm flying to Perth too in March(ish) when Jody will be about 4 months old.
I *think* it's only air nz with the bassinettes, the cheaper companies don't have them. Another good piece of advice I've heard is to write your passport numbers on your hand so you don't have to rummage for it while holding bubba when you fill out those custom forms -------------
