Ok so I have made it to 3 month's and still feeding so really proud of myself. However Emily is going to Nana's for the night and I really want her to have breat milk so i have one frozen botte of 100ml plus about 8 ice cubes. My question is the ice cube's were expressed over 3 day's frozen straight after each express is it ok to use all of them together as one feed?   I felt really silly last night I put Emily to bed thinking she has enogh expressed off 100mls the she woke for moreand just cried at the boob there was some coming out buty I am giuess it was the lack of flow so anytip's on expressing would be good I really need another 200mls before saturday.

It will be fine to mix the icecubes together.  The only time that's not ok is when the breastmilk you're mixing is at different temperatures.

I'm not sure why but for some reason expressing or feeding in the wee small hours increases your milk flow so maybe try getting up a wee bit earlier and expressing then.

I also found that my flow was always better when I expressed off one side and fed off the other.  It is very easy to do, just make sure your baby is latched properly and propped up on a pillow so you're not bending your back and then start expressing from the other side.

The other (IMO most important) thing is to relax and don't stress about it.  Nothing killed my milk flow when expressing like stressing that I wasn't going to have enough milk.  It isn't the end of the world if you buy a single pack of formula to send over as a back up plan but it sounds like you've got a good wee stash there and if you feed Emily at Nana's house just before you leave that should help the milk supply last too.

Good luck and enjoy your night off.

It should be okay to use the ice-cubes of frozen milk all together.

I think that the best time of day to express extra after a feed is first thing in the morning, as your supply is greatest at that time of day. If you don't manage to express enough before saturday then you could use the BM that you have and top it up with a small amount of formula, since it's just a once off thing... just don't stress about the expressing because it will make it harder!

Also being in a nice warm place or having a warm shower before expressing is meant to help. Drink lots of water and have a snack, and think loving thoughts about your cute baby

You are doing so well to have made it to three months

Threadjacker here

Is it not okay to mix different temperatures of breastmilk together? I express throughout the day into the same bottle so am definitely mixing cold fridge milk with new milk and sometimes even pop a cube of frozen milk in with the fridge milk to top up the bottle

You aren't meant to mix warm milk with cold milk before storing, as it will warm up the colder milk. I used to express into a seperate container and refrigerate it, then mix it with the other refrigerated milk. And date the container with the date of the oldest milk.

I don't see a problem with popping a cube of frozen milk in with fridge milk to top it up, if it's warmed and used straight away.

Oh goodness! I've definitely been doing things wrong then

Will start expressing into a fresh bottle from now on and then combine for the feed
