then went on to have a home birth with their second?? We're planning on having another baby next year & I'm seriously thinking I'd like to have a home birth. But i lost 2 litres of blood when i had my baby. So i don't know if i could have a home birth. -------------

It will depend on the cause of your h. I h'ed with baby #1 but then needed a c/s (it was a mid-labour h not post-labour) so I wasn't allowed a home birth for baby #2 - on a/c of the c/s though. -------------  |

I don't really know why it happened. They just said all they could put it down too was his size.(9lb 11oz). I tore twice too, worst was internal. But he did have his hand by his face. -------------

I didn't haemorrhage after my first but I did after my second. Even tho we knew the reason why I haemorrhaged (multiple birth, big placenta) I still wasn't allowed to birth at Birthcare with my next baby so I'm guessing a homebirth would have been a no-no too had I wanted one. In hindsight I'm glad I was at the hospital as lil miss had her cord very tightly round her neck and it needed to be cut before she could be delivered, and also coz I did have another small haemorrhage.
I'd have a chat to your midwife about it tho, depending on what the circumstances were with your first birth it might still be an option. ------------- Maya Grace (28/02/03)

I'm sorry but I don't know for sure either - although I had a haemorrhage after my DD's birth and lost about 1L, I am hoping to plan a home birth when we conceive our next bubba

That reminds me - just a wee side note, that most homebirth midwives carry full gear, including equipment and medication needed to treat a woman if she does haemmorhage after birth. Even if you go for a hospital water birth it could still be worth at least asking around a couple of HB midwives and seeing what their strategies are? ------------- Mama to two earth walkers & two angels. You know, I wouldn't worry about it. Once you get pg with #2 you'll be able to ask your mw all those questions and make a fully informed birth plan together. Don't stress the next 9+ months away ------------- |

i bleed so bad that they called in my family to say goodbye................im pregs now and having it however i want but i have a team of specialist.............my tmidwife is the one that saved me last time and im just glad she was a nurse before.............its different with your 2nd and usually different................its how you feel and if your comfortable with your team.................they know if i look bad to rush me in straight away (i live 30 mins away) there is no reason why you cant do what you want to do but like i say its up to you and the confidence of your team...............i would go straight into hospital if i wasnt 100% with everything........goodluck ------------- http://lilypie.com">  http://lilypie.com">

after my PPH with my first there was no way that i personally wanted to have a homebirth ( i had for my first) i was so terrified. for my own comfort i wanted to be near a place that "if" it happened again help would be there as fast as it was the first time.
but aswell as for my own comfort being in the hospital- i also had an IV in to help prevent another bleed. congrats on your pregnancy and all the best |
