Hi Everyone!
We're thinking of getting Amy an exersaucer for Christmas but they're quite expensive so i'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations or just comments on them

hey yah, we got one for Rhiannon, not sure what brand though...we didnt use it till she was 6mths old, and even then her feet didnt touch the ground...she used it for ages about 8mths i think...she loved it, especially once she could spin herself around in it ------------- http://lilypie.com">

hi, I have found it totally depends on the baby whether they will like it or not. my 1st son loved his, from 4 months spent at least 1 hour most days in it up to 10 months when he started to walk. now my 2nd son, spent about 15 minutes in his maybe a handful of times and never took to it... We loved ours. Michaela got one when she was 5mo and used it until well after she started walking. She was probably in it for about 10 months, maybe longer. -------------

Are you a member of a toy library as then you could hire one for a few weeks and see if your bubs likes it. Toy libraries are great that way. Often they even have a few different variations of the toys so you can decided which one suits best. ------------- http://lilypie.com">

The other thing Michaela loved and used from about Amy's age until she was 20mo was her Jolly Jumper, if you don't have one of those yet it's well worth getting one. -------------

I've decided not to use a jolly jumper or exersaucer this time around.
With my other 3 children, they all used jolly jumpers and they all walked at 9 months old! As this is my last baby, I'd like him/her to be a little more of 'a baby' for longer if I can hehe Although.....famous last words lmao!! A friend of mine used an exersaucer for her twins and they loved it. But not sure from what age to when. ------------- http://lilypie.com">

Funny you say that. Michaela started walking (holding hands) at 3mo. That scared the crap out of me. My DH and older sis were both early walkers (walking unassisted by 6mo ) and there was no way I was having one of those which is why I put her in the jolly jumper. I found it stunted her walking abilities as after awhile whenever she was standing she wanted to jump. She still managed to start walking around furniture quite early (around 5-6mo) but she didn't walk unassisted until she was 1yo.-------------

We borrowed an exersaucer from the church playgroup when Chloe was about 7 months old, and keep it in the kitchen... it's awesome because she can sit in there and play while I do the dishes/cook/etc. That's the only time we really use it, I wouldn't be able to afford one and don't really have space to keep it anywhere other than the middle of the kitchen... but it's so useful in there!! I'm so happy there was one available for us to borrow. ------------- Chloe (4 years) and Oliver (3 years). |

I bought mine off Trademe. It was $70 and looks brand new.
DS loves it, especially now he can swivel around in it. I'm glad we got it as it makes a change for him from being on the floor. ------------- http://lilypie.com">

A used hers from about 5 months until 10 or so. It was handy to put her in outside before we baby proofed the deck, and to keep her entertained when getting ready to go out etc. She loved it.
If you do get one, its good to know that they are not really "recommended" by people who promote natural movement, so shouldn't really be used for too long or too often. We have this one:
It works great for us as we could put one bubba in the seat and hold the other one up ourselves and they wouldn't interfere with each other. Plus it can be used as an activity table as well. We've locked the seat in place now as Aoife can pull herself up and walk around it. Eimear isn't far behind and much prefers to be standing herself at it rather than in the seat now. We've had it about 2 months and I expect to get another few months use out of it yet. ETA: The seat can be removed but I think I'll wait to remove that until both girls are a bit more 'graceful' in pulling themselves up

Yeah it's adjustable I think the 2 heights are around 63cms and 74cms. But I can confirm this tonight.
