Hi all sorry this topic is a bit doom and gloom. Just wondering if any of you know how common this is or if you know of anyone this has happened to? Thanks

It is very rare but potentially life threatening complication. Can I ask why you ask?

someone I know and loved has just passed from this, also I am pregnant too and very scared.

I'm sorry for your loss. It does tragically have a high mortality rate but take reassurance in the fact it is VERY rare many obstericians will never have come across it in their whole career.
