Hiya,

What's the safe age to introduce duvets etc to the cot?

I've got enough flybuys points to get the fairydown all sesons wool cot duvet but wasn't sure if it was something I would use or when I could use it. All these pretty bumper sets are very sweet but I do worry about the suffocation risk if they're used too young.

They recommend not using bumpers or duvets until 12+ months. I've never used them. Spencer is in a sleeping bag, its far easier, and when its really hot he just goes to bed in a onesie and then I pop in before bed and put a blanket on him if needed. (he's normally laying on top of the one he goes to bed with him)

I wouldn't bother with a duvet either.  Michaela got her first duvet when she moved into a single bed earlier this year (at nearly 2yo).  We also never used a bumper.

If you have enough points you should get the Symphony-in-motion baby mobile.  DH got one off flybuys for Michaela when she was a couple of weeks old.  Until then she screamed every nappy change but we put it over her change mat (which was inside the cot) and she became a different baby, she loved it!  It plays for 15 mins and somedays the baby mobile was the only reason I managed to get a shower.

Caden has a duvet and is completly fine. He is in a safe T sleep and has a sleep sack now aswell(as of last night). if anything, he kicks his duvet off so it never ends up near his head.

Up to you thought, its a personal choice, just like tummy sleeping, back sleeping side sleeping yadda yadda.

It's recommended not till 12 months, although Jack's had a thin quilt at the bottom of his bed since he was about 3-4 months old and its been fine. He's always been very aware when he's asleep and would never sleep with covers over his face (although now that's the only way he sleeps - strange child) so I was fine with it. I wouldn't put a heavy one on though, Jack's is just a bit thicker than a blanket.

We have a couple that were given to us before Samantha was born and we have never used them. We put Sam into a Gogo bag at around 6 months and have never looked back. If you try and put blankets over her she just kicks them straight off. Plus she doesn't stay sleeping in the cot in the 'normal' position for long, she usually ends up down the end sleeping sideways

I would second the symphony in motion mobile idea! Best thing ever!!!

Caden just has the winnie the pooh one that came with his cot set, and we have bumper pads that are tightly knoted, there is no way he can undo them
