man what is my body doing to me....First response preggy test gave me two postives, both within 5 mins, but today a quickcard gave me a neg....

so the question is was i pregnant or did i get 2 false positive.

i dont even know if i feel pregnant...sure im tired (but i have a sick toddler), my boobs ache (but that nothing new for this time of month), I wanted to throw up today after my girlfriend had a smoke as it recked,

oh well i suppose nothing to do but wait for the results tomorrow, and knowing my luck i will wake up tomorrow with bleeding.

The quickcard probably just isn't as sensitive as the first response and as its early it just hasn't picked it up.

Good luck for tomorrow and lots of cyber

I had 3 negatives before I got a positive when I bought a more sensitive test. How likely is it to get 2 false positives? I found the one step discover test was the only one out of 4 brands that gave me a positive.

Good luck

Hey Kaz, my BFPs didn't really get any darker over several days and it turned out that my levels at that point were pretty low (50 and under) and that they were doubling over three days rather than two. So far, the levels have continued to double over 2-3 days and thats considered to be consistent with a normal pregnancy. So I would say, don't worry about the HPTs and get some blood tests asap so you can get a proper handle on whats going on.

Have all my fingers and toes crossed. Have you started on heparin yet?

positive is positive chick. if you have it on one test and not on another it is just because your body doesnt respond as well to the other brand or its not as sensitive. quite often a test wont be darker with only a few days between so dont stress. i only did one test, it was +ve and for me that was it. try and get into a doctor to confirm it or pay for HCG levels to get done at a lab (about $30) it will put your mind at rest. false negs are possible but the stats for them are really really unlikely so 2 is probably near impossible. you'll be fine babe. congrats

Kaz I didn't see this thread before checking out the June thread today - had no idea the lines were playing tricks on you!

I completely relate, it is horrible. But if you are still getting some + then I reckon you are preggie even if a couple of the tests don't show it.

But your bloods will let you know for sure, do you get the results this arvo?

Posted By: Kazzle
Date Posted: 06 October 2008 at 9:57am
okay to the hcg level bloods came back at 22 (which the doctors and labs take as not pregnant), but because i got another pos this morning, im going to go do some bloods shortly, and will have the results back tomorrow....

now i didnt think that preggy tests could pick up at tht low, so now its just th waiting game

Is early days Kaz, not surprising those levels are low. How can they say that is not pregnant, surely if you have Hcg that's cos of being preggie? I don't understand....

Thought the POAS tests only showed pos at 25 or higher so sounds like your levels are increasing which has to be a really good sign!

Kaz - my test picked up a level of 9!!!! so I'm not surprised it picked up your level which is double what I had.

*fingers crossed your hcg doubles*

Posted By: cuppatea
Date Posted: 06 October 2008 at 1:54pm
I thought anything over 5 was considered pregnant.
The more sensitve POAS can pick up levels of 25, but that is what they guarantee to pick up so can usually actually pick up levels a lot lower.

Good luck with the results tomorrow. Really really hope this works out for you

Hugs Kazzle. Anything over 5 is definitely preg. I had HCGs done at 9 DPO with both my pregs, first pregnancy was 12 and second was 16, it all depends on the doubling!!

Congrats!!!!

Hey Kazzle, I just wanted to say that when I did a HPT with Jett, I got 2 faint +ve, then my MW gave me another 2 HPT and they came up -ve!!  I was soo confused!  I then did 2 more HPT from the chemist and they gave me +ve again.  I would say that from all the +ve results you've got, you would be pg.

okay so ive rung the hospital back and spoke to the nurse again, (my specialist is away all week, so she hasnt been able to consult with im),
and i explained to her that i knew i needed to start these injections, and that i normally miscarried around the 6wk mark, and was concerned about that...

so she has organised for me to go in tomorrow morning, as i have a sick toddler and the weather here is horrible (not driving weather thats for sure)...so tomrorow i start on the clexane injections...so fingers crossed

you have to do what ever helps you get through it and if denial is it then go with it... i spent the first 5 months of gabriels pregnancy in denial!
oh and as hard as it is try not to let the numbers stress you. the time of day you have the bloods done can also make a difference too, hence why i remember having to get them done at the same time..

Hey Kaz - my first two hcg levels were 50 and 86 over two days which is a similar doubling time to yours and I'm over 4000 now.

I don't know who does your blood tests but I do them through Aotea Pathology and if you organise it when they take your blood you can call them directly for hcg results. Usually they have the results within about four hours - way better than having to wait 24 hours like you seem to be doing.

Sending good vibes your way for tomorrow and your first needle experience.
