Hi girls,
My little boy seems to have a bit of a flat head and is favouring one position when I put him down to sleep. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can change this? I often go and turn his head the opposite way but he seems to go back to his favourite position. Does anyone lie their babies on their side at all?? Any suggestions would be appreciated  ------------- Sebastien 2 years old Olivier 3 3/4 years old |

Yep we did side sleeping in a wedge, also put a mirror on the side they don't favour as when you turn them that way it can help keep them looking that way for a little longer. Or if you dont' have a baby mirror you could put a photo of a familiar face for him to look at.
We also took Spencer to a chiropractor from 2 weeks of age and that sorted it fairly quickly. -------------

We rolled up a cloth nappy and put it under one side (from shoulder downwards IYKWIM) and alternated sides during the day. We didn't use it at night. Seemed to help quite alot.. ------------- http://alterna-tickers.com">

We side sleep Liam and still do, he seems to sleep better that way. We alternate sides during the day. Personally I'm all for side sleeping. ------------- http://lilypie.com">

in the bassinet at night we use a wedge and alternate him on either side, if we dont use the wedge he now aautomatically rolls on his side to sleep anyway ------------- http://lilypie.com">    [/url]

| I reckon give side sleeping a go, I wish we had as Jack got quite a bad flat head from being so darn stubborn and only turning one way (he COULD turn both ways, just refused to). They have until 2 years for the skull to form its permanent shape though, and I was always told not to worry about it too much. I massaged it twice a day and that helped a bit. Now that DS is older its coming right and he sleeps on his tummy so that solves that problem lol |

We have Liam's cot elevated also. Before we got the wedge to side sleep him we rolled up towels which worked also. ------------- http://lilypie.com">

I have the same problem with Caden. I sleep him on his back, and try to tilt him to a different side each night, he is in a safe t sleep now and I just tilt him and then strap him into the safteu sleep, but, he still seems to like to lie on the back of his head. I have tried a rolled up flat nappy bit it didnt work. I might go and by a head wedge ans see if that works. ------------- |

lol Thomas has the worst flat spot :P It got really bad when he was in the hospital, wasnt much we could do as he had to sleep on his back. Hes got a wedge, but he rolls out of it so I just let him do what he wants. Sometimes he'll sleep on the flat bit, others he'll sleep on the opposite. | My 21 month old had the same problem, we started side sleeping with a wedge for that same reason. Like Febgirl said once they start sitting up and moving around it does change. Kenzie's head looks great now :) |

We did back with Alan and he still has a slighty flat head at the back. just does not look so bad noe he has hair. So we side slept Mikey ad it worked great has a lovelt shape and settled way better. So Ems is side baby too would not do it anyother way now. ------------- Deborah Mum to:
