Hey all,
I had a practice with my electric breast pump, just to see how it worked when I want to start expressing for DH to do some feeds.

Afterward, I ran all the components through the steriliser using the Avent Microwave Steriliser.

Once the process is finished, all the bottles etc are still wet. Is this normal? How do they get dry? Obviously you can't dry them otherwise that would defeat the purpose....

But it doesn't seem right that they stay wet and it doesn't say anything in the manual. Does anyone have any experiences with microwave sterilisers they can share?

Thanks!

I just used to lift the lid on an angle and let them dry by themselves, like the dishes do!! I haven't got a microwave one this time round, i am using a milton one instead that you soak them in a solution, (like they use at hospital) and I just take those out and stand them on a teatowel, or if I need to use them, shake to get rid of the excess water and use wet.

I used to just tip the excess water out of the bottom and do as Lisa did, keep the lid over the top but angled so that they can dry on their own.
It doesn't matter if you need to use them wet as there's no chemicals or anything on there.

Yep they always stay wet, I never worried about it, the water is sterile so won't do any harm.

I used to get annoyed at this aswell, so now, as soon as they come out of the microwave so they are piping hot I use tongs and lay them all on their side with the lids off and on an angel, on a paper towel and they dry crystal clear When I sterilize I chuck his dummies in there aswell so they are always very clean.

I always found they dried in a few minutes because they were so hot...but yeah, if they were still a bit wet we just used 'em anyway.
