I was making butter chicken and other similar things all through m pregnancy this time round as this was what I really wanted to eat..... and DF was too scared to deny a pregnant woman anything I had no issues with mine, I think if you cook it properly and you know it is cooked well then you will be fine.

eta: didn't read your post properly sorry, but I did have bought ones as well, just not from out of a smorgasboard type setup, only made to order, same with chinese.

I love butter chicken and I eat it from one restaurant.... we have been going there for ages and have never been sick or anything. I have eaten butter chicken about 10 times since being preggers so far and haven't been sick. We go during lunch time, they are always busy!

We go to Daawat in Manners Mall... they do great butter chickens!

I made butter chicken the other night and woops put a little too much chilli in it. LOL I think it will be a while before we have it again, but it still tasted so good.

I had butter chicken from our favorite place when I was pregnant...they always made the sure the chicken was really well cooked and cut it all up smaller for us to be totally sure. I was fine.

I'd either home cook or get it from a place you totally trust. The other option is microwave it when you get home. I did that with KFC.

I've had indian takeaways a number of times throughout this pregnancy as well as home made (from a packet).

The only side effect I had was a bit of a clear out of the system - which I reckon is better out than in if you know what I mean!! And now, they say eating a nice spicy curry is a good thing at the end of a pregnancy!!!

I often had Indian in pregancy - the place we went to had an A food hygiene rating (that was my rule for all food in pregnancy). TBH, I never considered *not* having Indian takeaway!

Yep I still ate indian, in actual fact when carrying Spencer I didn't even realise that it wasn't recommended to eat chicken from restaurants. Now though as I do know I normally get a rogan josh instead or something vege.

I ate it when I felt like it (which wasn't often) but only from the Indian place up the road that we've been going to for ages.

I can't remember how recently I've had butter chicken, but I do know that I've avoided food-court type places when it comes to Indian or Thai food (two of my fave cuisines!) and only have it when it is made to order and piping hot. Just seems safest that way

Really? I eat chicken at restaurants all the time
I don't hesitate to get take aways but I would never eat from a smorgasboard thing even when I'm not pregnant (just one of those things...annoys dh a bit lol).

I've had butter chicken a few times with this pregnancy but try and go during the lunch rush when I can see that they are constantly refilling the rice and chicken. It's in a busy foodcourt so lunch time is the best time to go.

I also have a nearly 16yr old, a 14 and 8yr old and not once did I ever watch what I ate. For the 2 oldest it wasn't even bought to my attention. I vaguely remember with the last, but never sterred clear of anything. I even ate muscle pies from the bakery...but admittedy I knew the ppl and they made all pies from scratch so I trusted them and never had a problem.

How funny that so many of you are craving butter chicken - me too! We live right in Little India and I will only eat at one restaurant (admittedly have only wanted indian twice since I got pg though) - a place we've been going to a while and my friends have been going to forever and always been fine. Funny thing is - I am craving "kiwi" butter chicken .... it's quite different here

The curries in the food courts have loads of cream in them, I'd be more worried about that sitting around as much as the chicken. Home made ones would be ok though, as its hot and not sitting around.

I totally avoided it and will next time( i know i am the odd one out) partly caus eboth local places have it pre made and also cause I never trust someone else's cooking of chicken..i didn't eat any Indian or Chinese and esp not KFC:)

totally to each their own..i just don't trust takeaways cooking when pregnant and know that stuff like listeria can be caught by the baby without the Mum getting sick( I know I know it's very rare) this is totally just my opinion!:)

mmm - butter chicken, had it the night before I had both my girls. Havent had it since. I prefer it made from home, with extra cream

I never really had it past 20 weeks because of heart burn and in the last few weeks I avoided it because I didnt want to bring on labour too early. Dont know if it was a concidence or not but I went into labour 6 hours after eating butter chicken both times.

I just always made sure my food was from places I trusted, that was freshly made and really hot.
